Cracks generally aren't a good idea. Another problem is that a CD key can only be used for one person, it's unlikely someone will give theirs away or get one for you.

Bringing back a whole person is probably quite costly. Ed was famous for his alchemy and spent a good portion of his life devoted to it. Plus the Gate of Truth seems to be symbolic in what it takes. He lost Al by the use of alchemy so it makes sense that the reverse could work.

If you have the boxes and the CD-key which didn't work, that's still evidence of your ownership. If you don't have them, I'm out of ideas. You'll have to get a new copy of HL.

Unless you can get your HL registered to Steam, there's not really much that I can suggest. Try contacting Steam Support, if you can prove that you own it to them things could work out.

If your CD-key isn't working, try contacting Steam support. Failing that, I'm afraid you may have to purchase HL again over Steam.

When creating a thread, there should be an option towards the bottom of the page to include a poll. Try to only include one if absolutely necessary and avoid giving too many options. PK's 20 or so options in his last poll weren't well recieved. For small questions, it might be an idea to ask...

That's not HL through Steam. ESF will only function properly when installed on a Steam registered copy of Half-Life.
