I doubt their next project will be DBZ based. They've done ESF for 10+ years and it'd be hard to make money from something licensed. Plus, it also limits what they can do, sticking to source material. Us testers will probably go back to testing drugs and cosmetics for big companies ^^.

Do you mean ECX? Gotenks has never been in a vanilla ESF release. Balance wasn't fantastic in ECX either. He's not planned for the final release though.

The team have said a fair number of times that fusion isn't likely to make it into ESF. The matter of who does what is a problem and the only characters eligible are Vegetto, Gogeta and Gotenks. The first two aren't that different from Goku and Vegeta. Gotenks would be an interesting character...

In response to your suggestions; 1) If animations were played when characters joined the server for everyone, it'd disrupt gameplay slightly. Imagine how annoying it would be if someone kept reconnecting? 2) Sound plays quite a role in ESF, you can normally hear people swooping at you. If...

That's good to hear, that should make things simpler. Could we have the error message? The details they give can come in handy. Also, when does the error occur? On loading? After going in-game?
