2012 US election thread - keep it civil

Well, you're not as ****ed as during the great depression. Maybe a couple of small wars will do. I'd say recovery started with Roosefeld's new deals, not with war profiteering, so maybe you could also spend money on something else :) As long as the money is borrowed within the US it's not really...

2012 US election thread - keep it civil

That's what Keynesian economics would imply, yes. That worked for the US to get out of the great depression (and a whole lot faster than us Europeans who stuck to cutting down spending). If you increase government spending during economical lows and decrease it during economical highs that would...

    setting origin from angle.. (kinda)

In ESF 1.2 all characters have a beam attachment on their hand (I think it's attachment 1 or 2). So you should be able to grab the position of that attachment, dunno how to do that in AMX script though.

Where do we do that? I'd say most updates go into more depth than that. There's ingame videos and news with explanations of the new melee system. We did also put most of the design documents online (not sure where they are hosted now..). I agree. We tried. Didn't work. Apparently the wider...

    Sub's coding pool party

I quickly skimmed over board.h and board.cpp. One of the things you could work on is the "problem of naming things", which is the hardest problem in programming. Some suggestions: WhichOne => index resetIsCellOccupied => resetAllCellOccupations setSwitcher => flipSwitcher SwitcherValue(bool) =>...

You might also want to take a look at the head first series: http://www.headfirstlabs.com/ This might or might not be a learning style you like and the books are quite expensive so I suggest borrowing one first, or at least look at the website a bit and download some example pdfs before buying.

I agree. You might not even want the Shape to draw itself (should milk un-cow itself?). If you make a dedicated shape drawer, you can easily switch to a different shape drawer at a later stage (e.g. from OpenGL to DirectX, from 2D to 3D, ...). For some reading on the topic I highly recommend...

    Remove the pitch limit

There is a tutorial on this on wavelength http://articles.thewavelength.net/269/ If I remember correctly this just sets up the camera angle though, some more arcane magic/head-to-wall bashing is required to actually rotate the player model itself correctly in the half-life engine.

    Rick Santorum, fact free politician!

This is becoming a bit silly, but I'll go on to please Eon. Historic events are as follows: 1. 1609 ish: Japan is not isolationistic, trades with numerous European countries 2. 1639 ish: Japanese Christians rebel, European countries help them, the Netherlands sides with the Japanese 3. after...

    Rick Santorum, fact free politician!

I wouldn't call them very isonalistic (is that a word?) before 1637. I said exclusive trading relationship. See also here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VOC_Opperhoofden_in_Japan

    Rick Santorum, fact free politician!

Better link for Praetorius 'really': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan%E2%80%93Netherlands_relations Our exclusive trading relationship with Japan was established by helping Japan crush some Christian rebels, so by military means.

Let us get to know eachother

Yah, but for most forum users (with the exception of Phil and possibly Ready) the number of cool beers they drink while walking is neglectable compared to the number of bites they take per day. And calculators are for pussies. I hired 1,073,741,825 african children and fed them 3 times today...

He said per bite. So if you life in a rich enough country and have 3 meals of let's say 10 bites, then your changes of surviving the day are 50%^30 = 0.0000000931322574615%
