I started this topic in hopes It would help out all new comers how
to play. Well because appearantly my request for a "Strategies"
forum was denied :p I hold no grudge....

Anyway, back to topic. Your all free to post here. Your suggestions
on Melee and Beams. So when a "New-Guy" comes by he will read
this and know how to play like pro's :D

Here is how I play at Melee:

1.)
When not Transformed. The main thing you gotta look after is
your Ki Pool. I avoid this by letting go Flying. When your in battle.
And your almost running out of Ki. It is wise to not recharge in front
of your enemies. So what you should do is "Evade" their attacks.
When you hit the ground. And they attempt to swoop at you. You
should always Jump over them. If they are really good and manage
to hit you after jump. Then jump and block in mid air. And keep
repeating this process untill you ki pool has gone back to the center
or half way full.

2.)
When Transformed You will consume alot of ki. But you will pretty
soon get carried away. And Teleportation is an option once you have
transformed because it doesn't waste as much energy as it does
when your normal. But The main thing is to not get hit. Because
when your melee'd getting back on your feet in mid air will take
half a quarter of your ki pool. And you will always need that.

3.)
Do not be dependant on mid air battles. Being on the ground while
your enemy is trying to hit you from higher grounds could sometimes
lead to advantages and disadvantages but you will be consuming
Ki. I fight in Mid Air. But not Always. So what I do is I swoop.
Quickly stop swooping and after that I quickly release Toggle Fly
and let my body fall as if it just finished long jumping in mid air.
So you will be able to reach your enemy without wasting energy
after swooping. he could also be clueless as of to where you are
because your Aura will not be up. And if he hasn't had a chance to
target you hese even more screwed

4.)
If your opponent seems to be doing this process...
Block>Hit>Blast. And he just wont stop blocking you and throwing
you away like that. Its simple. Charge a Special Attack. And when
he attempts to block it dont let him have it. just detonate it in his
face.

NOTE: FAST REACTION IS EVERYTHING. I suggest setting your
mouse sensitivity to 10-13 if your playing on 3rd person view
I even get ppl wondering how I can kill them with 300ms. Hsu
should know He was there on esf_geoarena :D good fight!

Here is what I do with Beams:

1.) If your losing a Block Struggle or a Power Struggle. You may
have not noticed it yet but you can Power up by hitting your boost
key and putting more energy and strength into it. It is wise not to
get into a struggle with someone that has a higher PL than you
but sometimes you can get lucky if your just slightly equal to him.

2.) Detonating is good... Just make sure you dont detonate your
special attacks in front of you.

3.) If you see someone swooping at you when your chargine up
a special attack or generic beam. Let yourself fall. And your enemy
will eventually have stopped to where you just were. Then just
quickly aim up to where you just were in mid air and throw it up.

4.) Before your Special Attack passes that little line. I suggest you
hold it before it does. Most beam attacks will show a light coming
out of your hands. this is a perfect way to hide it. If its a beam you
can move with, just quickly have someone head toward you and
blast them in the face :p

When you and sombody is fighting in a melee fight keep your distance some so when they try to fly out to you teleport to the side and and quickly nock tham out of the sky! it works for me:]

Your tactics only work if you are in close melee. If im outta ki i just power it back. If you swoop i block, if you teleport, I teleport. Evasion is a better strat then being super aggressive. Ground is better than mid air. Why? because it the opponent lags while they swoop they stop at the ground then just right click and bam you will send them flying up.

Biggest secret is that you dont have to have some one targeted to hit them with melee. Ive fought 3 on 1 battles b4 and killed all of them with ki blob and beam and melee.

Im new to this game although have been playing the last 2 days straight.

I am an abbid DBZ fan so u can prob relate to it :D

Heres my 2cents.

I find the best method in this game is to melee.
U move the fastest, well fast enough so that when u are occupied with an enemy some whos targetting u will have trouble folowing.
It gives u ample opportunities to recharge your Ki.
Just hit ur opponenet/s to the ground and recharge then.
if a recharge is not needed jsut fire a blast at 1 :D

I tend to only get into ps battle with ppl who have less ki or
high ki players that u notice are running low on Ki. (the latter will give u the most ki upgrades :)

As for blocking i find this comes hand in hand with the tru blocking techniques from dbz.
If your opponent is weak u will just flick away the blast easily

But remember, best idea not to block Big Bang Attacks, Spirit Bombs or Big Ball attack as the character no longer needs to control the blast afterwards leaving u open for a direct melee attack.

If someone more powerfull than u fires a blast attack, teleport on an angle towards them putting the blast behind u and leaving u with a free melee hit :D
Some players may be quick enough to detonate the blast and go for u but u will have an advantage as u have already targeted and ready.
I noticed 1 flaw with this technique. If u see they are blocking start the manevour and then they decide to melee rush u, they will do it quickly and u wont get a chance to defend against it.

Blocking with melee.

U can have quite long melee battles with someoen who is confident with their blocking + melee combos.
It is the best skill in the game and worth lookin at.
Most ppl will tend to "camp" waiting with the block for u to attack them first. Then when u hit them they just hit back straight away.
It doesnt always work but for the most part its a steady manouver.

Another thing about melee. Its also about picking your opportunities. Things to consider when melee'ing

#1
As with any dbz move, the player with the most Ki will have more of an advantage in gettin a hit.

#2
The longer u have been on a melle run, the more of a chance u have of gettin the hit.

#3
Use your Aura powerup as much as possible.
U move faster. u do more damage and theres more of a chance u get the hit.

#4
A melee'r who doesnt use block goes to the next dimension first.

#5
Go for the players that are going for u first.
This will give u opportunities to recharge your Ki.

#6
Dont use all ur Ki. In a melee the last thing u want is to go from ssj to normal then fall defencelessly outa the sky just b4 makin that final blow. :D
(Been there done that lolol)

#7
Go with the melee + generic blast combo.
If goku played ESF he'd do the same!

#8
When u have knocked a player to the ground they will not get back up again if they are rolling down a hillside or cliff.
So if u catch this, power up to the max blast and aim at the bottom of the hill :D

#9
If u cant find the opportunities to recharge use the melle swoop
to fly away. U should be able to get enough ki to fight back and win a moments peace. even if it is a short 1. :D

#10
Blocking only has effect in an even 100 Degree radius from the players pov.

And last but not least!

Have Fun! :D

1 more manevour.
Practice melee hitting a player more than once b4 they hit the ground.
I've managed to do 3 hits in 1 go.
Its not easy and theres no trick to it except to practice.

There are possibilities for lots of other pointers but since i've only been playing 2 days. WHAT WOULD I KNOW!!

I dont think you can throw your fists now can ya? I dont wanna bring
up an arguement because well. It is your theory/logic. But when
you play in a public server you will get even with everyone in a
melee battle cept for admins. Im on 56k and I've had people with
100ms telling me how the hell I kill them with so much lag. And I
usually ping 250-350ms.

I do however agree on your Teleporting after the enemy teleports
I often do that as well but I dont like to abuse teleportation when
I can simply escape by swooping away from my enemy and not
wasting so much ki, as I said before. When your not transformed
you cant abuse Teleportation unless you have a full ki pool. But I
do suggest you stop when your by the middle. I dont pay attention
to my ki pool often but thats how I sometimes screw up when im
in melee battles. I always keep my radar open to see where my
enemy had teleported too and I'll just aim the opposite of the
direction hese at and teleport with my back turned to him. Then I
hit um.
