Indeed. And Personally NOT as Cpt. Picard. I mean, he Did Captain Ahab a few years back.........Unbelievable. He's also done a number of other classic characters expertly, and superbly. He is one of the greatest performers of our time.

Christopher Walken (every movie), Johnny Depp (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Edward Scissor Hands, Pirates of the Caribbean), Adam Sandler (Punch Drunk Love), Edward Norton (American History X, Fight Club), Brad Pitt (Seven, Fight Club), Morgan Freeman (The Shawshank Redemption), Woody Harrelson (Natural Born Killers), Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko), Keith David (Platoon, Requiem for a Dream), Jared Leto (Requiem for a Dream, Fight Club)

I'm sure there are more but this is all I can think of ATM.

What I really like to see is when an actor/actress does a performance thats unlike anything they have ever done before, and they do it well.

id have to say it would be jason statham, most of you probabaly remember him from "the transporter", but hes been in several other movies as well,

one of the things that also caught my attention is that he did the voice of a character in one of my favourite video games, red faction 2,
