Recently my friend had installed Steam onto his system. At this time, halflife and WON were working pefereclty. He played a few fun games on steam, everything seemed to be running the way it should. He then turns steam off to find me on msn to ask him to a game of esf on WON, he trys to turn it on and halflife doesnt seem to work properly (he was getting a measly 10fps max in my server) so he uninstalls steam and halflife and all his mods, reinstalls them all and nothing had changed at all, not a single thing and this has been tried multiple times.

Windows XP
2500 mhz
256 ddr ram
radeon 9000

Help would be most appreciated, hope you guys can help since you are my last resort.

Steam when it's installed it has some default settings (video). Sometimes it also changes the settings from your nonsteam-halflife. Tell your friend to check his video settings.
Another problem could be that his video card drivers got broken. If other games work fine, I guess it isn't from that.. but tell him to get the latest drivers for his video card.

That or if he chose to "get rid of the older files" while he was installing steam, he basically uninstalled his older version that used WON.

I don't think so cause he didn't said he can't play it.. he just gets low performance.

argh, sorry to puzzle you guys. Literally as soon as i posted this, i signed onto msn and he had fixed it. He took my advice and deleted all of the games manually by deleted the steam and sierra folder and installing from scratch. Thanks for the help anyway you guys.
