Yea, Vista uses up a lot. WinXP is better if you want a good performance and you don't have a good PC.

"out-dated"? Come on.. You have more then enough to run smoothly, I meant people that have less then 1.5ghz, 512MB Ram and a video card below 125MB.

Q6600 Overclocked to 3.0Ghz
4GB of Ram
8800 Ultra in SLI

That's what I'd call new. But still Onslaught, your PC is by no means outdated.

I'm running on an E6600@2,4ghz
7800GT 256mb
2GB of RAM.

Graphics card is getting slightly outdated, but I'd figure this would still run smoothly on Vista using Steam. As Vista gets updated, it will probably get better and better at performance.

But that might take a while before "Vista" is useful for gamers and those who use a lot of software.

As long as your PC is not enormously outdated, you should have no problems running games with Vista. The difference between Vista and XP only is a couple of FPS (1 or 2 FPS depending on the game) and even 3dmark06 shows only a difference of about 100 points between Vista and XP (Tested using a Laptop, [email protected], 2gb of ram, 8600GT 512mb @ 1024x786)
