I love how an article about the social behavior of little children turns into a thread about how religion has to be a brain washing evil thing that encourages people to crash planes into buildings. ;/

I think people are born pure and innocent and as they grow older and are exposed to the "outside world" they slide down this hill of "morality". Religion/good parenting can either enforce good morals and keep them on a good path or take them off of it.

The article Dox posted had to do with young children making decisions based on no morals bestowed on them by any person, and yet they can pick out who have good 'personalities' in them. Or "Good Samaritan" as they put it.

what Dox and most others want to know, is what causes the transition from cute, kind, friendly children into the murderous killers that we have to today in this violent world. What we're saying is religion is a large factor in the brainwashing that occurs in the world today no matter what religion it is. Now I don't know every single relgion but I'm pretty sure most tell you to do get and not do bad.

But we're not saying it's everything. Other things that can brainwash people are parents views on life or any particular idea. As I've stated earlier.

Saying children become "better" people by being Christian doesn't really seem right to me. There is no "saving grace", as the only thing improving someone's morals is how they are raised. Being raised Christian, Muslim, Jew or Atheist has nothing to do with the matter - it depends on how, not as what. At least that's my point of view.
never said that they become better by becoming christian or any other religion. what i was saying that people are raised ON religion, not by religion. what is in the bible is what they believe.

Religion? Check. Parents? Check. Mental Disorders/abnormalities? Check.

But, the environment places a significant role. That's one of the reasons inner cities have so much crime. It's also probably the reason for many public shootings. I don't believe that you can say "well the parents should have done a better job," because it's unrealistic and unfair to think that the parent has control and moderation of their child's life.

Maybe they hang out with smart kids and therefore try to do better in school? Or the opposite: Not being with any friends and developing a distorted view on life, or relying for other outcasts on the internet to help shape your view, may cause trouble.

And whether we want to believe it or not, media does affects minds, depending on how impressionable they are. Anime, for example. How many stereotypes has THAT generated? The same can be said with books, movies, and yes, video games.
