Potentially. If not, I'd really like to see that series ^^. Lupin III is another one that comes to mind. Whilst most characters had no depth, they looked pretty cool.

If you are going to go with Samurai X, then at least go for the OVA. The series was horrible in comparison >.<

G Gundam was so cliche and over the top that it became the show's charm.

Oh, and if this counts, the animation in "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is fantastic.

Also in TV animation, "smoothness" is not always the instant "great animation" flag. Subtle gestures, thoughts, and reactions help bring the character alive and in to a sense of believability.

Avatar was pretty nicely done. Combat was very smooth and well choreographed, fight scenes flowed and their bending didn't seem out of place.

There were three animes in my mind, but i couldn't decide which one i should declare "the best", for some reasons, i like all three of them equal^^

First one: Vision of Escaflowne

Cool story, some unique characters, and the people got some nose, that are as sharp as the swords they wield :]

Second one: Hellsing (OVA)

Yep, video is from that 13 episode "long" Anime, which is cool, but OVA is much better. Hellsing got some really interessting characters. A psychotic badass main character, and well...a lot of blood and some more psychos^^

And the last one, and i realy wondered that noone mentioned it before.

Death Note

Well, that baby breaks most of the rules. No cute mr.niceguy superhero, no happy ending, not much action, or real fights. But a great story, interesting characters, nice animations and a dark touch, keeps you watching it.

Continue to make it that way? There was 4 OVA's total, which told an epic story...not sure what you mean. Or just the style of animation? Well back then they could do that because it was a OVA series...a typical OVA episode has the budget of 5 normal anime episodes...so of course it's higher quality.
