IMO, firefox is better than IE right now while it's still fairly new and not a horrible target for viruses and spyware. It's almost as fast if not as fast as IE, kills all popups, and I like the little fox around the moon icon. If firefox is literally "better" than IE it's only because it's less popular.

Firefox is just prettier and has some features that I like that IE doesn't have liked tabbed windows. Use whichever one you prefer, but don't trap yourself into one browser. Use them both. IE usually has better compatibility with more popular websites like file planet.

People target IE because every computer in America has it on there by default. THAT'S why people do that--simple software distro economics, people.

By the logic of the firefox fans in this thread...Macs must rule. Macs don't ever get ANY spyware AT ALL, because none of it works on them. So macs must be incredible and ten million times better than PCs! Right?

Just because you people download Hilary Duff movies and crappy anime episodes through your Kazaa Lite Pack K++=++ Whatever-The-Hell-It-Is, and then because Firefox is lacking the ability to render many types of proprietary activeX controls,

And besides that fact, I'll bet my left leg you all DO still get spyware. The pop ups never pop up, thus not informing you...and more importantly, all of these things work through proprietary activeX and java controls, which Firefox mostly can not do. So the spyware is there, or trying to be at least--it just doesn't work properly. Just like most online banking, certain streaming video formats, and some login-based applets won't work either.

How bout everyone in this thread rewinds, and edits all of their posts to include (A) their system specs, and (B) how many downloading programs or stolen/downloaded apps they have?

THAT'S where most of it comes from. Frigging duh. That is why I HAVE ONLY HAD TWO SPYWARE INCIDENTS IN 7 YEARS AND HAVE USED IE THE ENTIRE TIME.

Explain that.

My opinion as someone with web coding experience: any browser that needs its own special sets of tags just to do the same basic things like page backgrounds and certain font styles can't be all that brilliant. I think it just doesn't work with enough types of features that the pop-ups don't work.

EDIT: I just checked against Firefox and Opera, and IE also appears to render pages SLIGHTLY faster--on my machine, anyway. A lot of people say "blah IE sucks it doesn't work!" -- well, ****in A, guess what, mine works fine! LEARN TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR DAD'S PRESARIOS, people.

I havn't got anything from Kazaa, I use it for music alone. Kazaa has nothing to do with it unless your a total moron and actually use it for downloading programs. Then you should just be slapped. lol

System specs has nothing to do with this whatsoever, as for stolen / downloaded apps, I have none. I get all my software from a store or a friend.

Thats funny, I've been coding websites for years and I've never had a problem making it compatable since I started using firefox. Meh, maybe you use a different "super coder" method that I wasn't told about.

Hmm, I think I'll use this as a chance to not only drag myself back on topic, but put the run on IE as well. Internet Explorer technically can't even be called a web browser, as it does not meet the HTTP standards of a web browser. For those who don't want to believe me and are thinking "haha, this guys lying" and such, heres the source: http://anime-overload.com/ieharmful.html

That url pretty well sums up the "Whats so special about Firefox" by simply changing it to "Whats so bad about Internet Explorer", and as the page clearly explains, a whole ****load.

Sorry, but when Firefox is as old as IE is, it's going to have vulnerabilities, flaws and people abusing features built into it. And then people will be singing the song of "Firefox sucks."
Alea look, I don't want to start a fight in here or with anyone else. I don't want you banned either, just learn to calm down on those comment's. That was Soul Striker's Opinion. Or was it soul terror... Who cares. Anyway's just try to calm down.

Who cares eh? I care for one. Learn to read before you start opening YOUR big mouth. I'd rather have Aleas comments since they have some intelligent backing with them then have your dumb ass spewing your verbal trash all over the place.

Now you can tell me to calm down, but of course I wouldn't listen to you. Why would I?

Pipe down junior, let the big kids play.

That's all you need to know. You can use both at the same exact time, so there is zero reason to start comparing every feature of both. I've recieved complaints about the activists on both sides of the argument and there's no reason to have an argument at all, so cut the crap. I'll be looking for it more from now on.
