I'll never understand why people still badmouth steam.
1) It's in Beta.
2) You don't need to download 700 megs of anything if you already have the HL files installed. They can be copied over.
3) It's easier for modmakers.
4) Don't listen to idiots who don't take the time to read documentation then get mad when they don't know how stuff works.
I've installed Steam and it works fine. There's some bugs with the Friends thing, but I'd prefer it to WON any day. If you want to stay with WON, then just know that WON's not going to be around for much longer. Steam is the future. Get over it.
In addition, PcJoe himself has posted something to the tune of that he likes coding with Steam a LOT better as its easier to test out mod additions. So, I wouldn't be surprised if at some point WON isn't supported, if Valve doesn't make that decision for everyone soon anyway.
