DUDE!!!!! Why did you spend money on the LAST GEN HIGH END CARD????? I just got a 7600GS and that runs Oblivion max fine! Return that for a 7600GS or GT and save up for DX10!

(BTW the 8800GTX is better then 7950GTX in SLI)
There are more things you need to take in consideration than just raw power:

- 7950GTX is still one of the best cards, while being cheaper than the 8800GTX
- SLI makes it come very close to the 8800.
- Power consumption at load. 8800GTX: 176 Watt, 7950GTX: 82 Watt
- Do you want/need DirectX10
- Overall price: You can use a 7950GTX right away. If you want to use an 8800GTX what it was designed for, you will need to buy the 8800GTX, Home Premium (minimum), larger power supply, more RAM and CPU power (you don't want to bottleneck a powerfull 8800GTX if the rest of your PC is crap, you'd just waste money, although Pemalite's PC isn't likely to bottleneck his gfxcard.)

Or maybe he wants to play current games for now with ultra graphics, and is at the time saving up for a new pc. (There are rich people on this planet :p)

...Yeah, because everyone in South Africa are rich. There's a gap between rich and poor in most countries, and it happens to be pretty damned big in South Africa (blacks have virtually nothing, whites have everything).

I got a crappy homebuilt PC (well, it was good when I got it - sort of).

ATI Radeon 9600 256 MB

512 MB ram

Intel Pentium IV 2800 Mhz CPU

160 GB HDD

Meh.

Edit: Oh, and I plan on getting a new awesome one for Fallout 3, Deus Ex 3 and KOTOR 3. o:

Recently I built my own machine, which was based on pure Price/Performance/Overclocking.

It is:
Pentium 2160 ! 1.8ghz @ 3.9ghz. (I was incredibly surprised when it reached that speed, and the performance is phenomenal, FSB is sitting at 433.3mhz :))
2GB DDR2 memory.
Crossfire Radeon 3850's Overclocked slightly past Radeon 3870 stock speeds. (Got them for half price!)
All in all, a cheap and fairly powerful machine :)

around 2000 i purchased an emachines at best buy for around 500$, and at the time it was a decent price for the hardware it said it had in it, my uncle looked it over and said it was a good deal, (works at ibm) now 8 years later the machine though still fully functional, is a joke and it keeps destroying graphics cards for some reason. (onboard still works "fine")

I use it as a secondary,... well third'ary? pc, in case by some miracle both of my other computers break.

my cousin was just about to drop 700 bucks on a new pc, and internet which meant he was going to get into some gaming most likely, and none of my old pcs would be able to handle it so i looked around and found a refurb at newegg with nearly identical specs for literally half the price (which is good because i have been out of work since november)

i dont know jack about computer hardware, so ill just post the info straight from sysinfo.
AMD 64x2 dual core 4000+ 2100 mhz
2gb memory, and a 320 gb HDD (still stuck with onboard video though, which is a problem because it crashes my garrysmod v10 with a "video hardware error")

i was worried about a refurb at first, seeing as everything else ive been purchasing has been breaking mysteriously fast, hooray walmart, got it in and it was clear it was not handled very carefully, the corner of the box was crushed in and the door on the case was loose in the box, nevertheless it fired up like a champ and i couldnt be prouder.

my brother just fried his pc as well, he left the side open and let it sit on the floor in a house with 2 dogs and a cat. long story short, his room smelled like burnt pee.

bought a new one off newegg as well, an acer with similar stats as mine with 1 key difference, he has windows XP and i have vista, he paid 480 for his.

we all downloaded the same benchmarking program, novabench to test them out and though not amazing, consider that none of us have made any upgrades to these prebuilt computers, IE onboard video all around.

my cousin scored 175,
my brother scored 113,
and I scored,..... 206, thats right, the cheapest one of all 3 got the highest score

btw long half-coherent post=nyquil is kicking in

goddamn flu
