I'd say it was a successful merge. Losing some of your postcount, still a small price to pay.
More incentive to post more! Besides who cares about your postcount anyways. Quality over quantity.

Grega lost 4,000 posts, but he still has the 2nd highest post count on this forum. To put this into perspective, if you were to take all of the posts that Grega lost and give them to a new user, that user would have the 10th highest post count on this forum.

In fact, I took the liberty of doing some additional math. It appears that roughly 99% of the posts on this forum are made by less than 1% of the userbase. Perhaps even more troubling, this gap between the forums highest postcount earners and the lowest is growing at an alarming rate. I therefore propose a redistribution of postcount. If someone has over lets say 1,000 posts, I think, in the spirit of fairness, that some of those posts should be given to those who are not as fortunate. Considering Grega lost about 30% of his postcount and hardly noticed, I think we should make this tax a bit steeper. Lets say it will be a 70% tax. Someone such as Grega will hardly notice that he's missing some 7,000 posts, but those 7,000 posts would go a long way to helping the common man... someone like zz12345zxc, who is struggling to get by with a paltry 62 posts.

I know that some of you will say that this tax is unfair / uncalled for because the top postcount earners benefit the postcount of everyone because they create conversations which give lower earners an opportunity to join in, but this trickle down effect has not been proven in any meaningful way.

The current administration will never implement this, of course. They're happy to keep the status quo, but these past few years have shown that the status quo simply isn't good enough. What we need is hope. What we need is change.

This is actually a disaster. It's a lot harder to spew horrible lies and untruths if there's a way to verify what you're saying. I'll keep trying, though.

Oke! I've re-updated the entire post count table for everyone on my local machine. It has changed the post count quite a bit for a lot of people.

Here's a few:

Grega's:
Current post count: 9,720
After updating it: 14,777

Skyrider:
Current post count: 8,616
After updating it: 4,850
After re-updating it: 9,418

Praetor:
Current post count: 368
After updating it: 365 <- Most likely no effect as only 3 posts has been effected.

Chakra-X:
Current post count: 1,904
After updating it: 1,382

Mastasurf:
Current post count: 718
After updating it: 1,372

Damaera:
Current post count: 6,803
After updating it: 6,249

Elcor:
Current post count: 480
After updating it: 1,345

As you can see, it still has a lot of effect on your post count. Both good and bad.

Here's an explanation why it went down / up for a few people... At least, it's the only thing I can think off.

After the massive prune back in 2008, a lot of posts/threads were removed (obviously).. However, your post count was not effected as I never ran the option to rebuild the post count. As obviously, it would have an negative effect on everyone.

Now that threads/posts are being re-added, the post count seems to be messed up by re-building some of the things here on the forums which was needed as a lot of the threads/posts were re-added. So the forum/database doesn't know your real post count anymore.

Now, this can be fixed.. but after I've done this, I cannot undo it without putting back a copy of the database. After this, your entire post count might be effected.. Why? Because that's your real post count.

No, I'm not cheating . The reason why I re-re-updated my own post count was because a lot of my posts are set to guest (FF|Skyrider). I attached it to my own account and re-builded the postcounts again so it includes the posts of my guest account now as well. If I re-build the post count here on the live forums, it means that the post count you'll be getting is your real post count.
