whenever i compile a map and run it, i cannot see to the opposite end of the stage. its just empty skybox until i actually get close.

if i go into hammer map properties and change the max distance to 1000 will that change that? or am i missing somthing?

Err it will change it but not much.

1000 is about 1/8th of the side straight of the grid in hammer.

You should change that to 16000 for normal maps and round 32000 to 64000 for maps where you make a 3D skybox ^^

does it have anythign to do with the fact that i dont have a solid sky box broken up into parts? with the s and h pattern skybox? because i just compiled a map with the max view at 20000000 and it didnt work untill i had box for sky like water over the whole level. remind me how to take screanshots of comp and i will show you an example of what i mean

Uhh...the button labelled Printscreen?

Press that and an image of the screen will be copied to clipboard, so just go to an art prog, hit paste, then save as.

If you Hold Alt+Printscreen, you will only copy the current window you have open.

ok so
floor ( i have noidea what this is but i knwo it has somthing to do with r_speeds and rendering and such, i also have no idea still how to apply texture to just one side of somthing >_<
this is the broken up skybox, again with what looks to be some kind of "dont render this" thing...

and this is my test map without that stuff, but without it i cannot see to the end of my map, :(

Wait did you mean the view distance in hammer?

I though you was talking about the view distance in the game.

For the hammer view distance there is a setting under the 3D view options. A slider. You cant go past that and itll still cut off a bit if looking diagonally from one end to the other. But generally you should see the whole map.

Oh and d not go over 64k for ESF 1.2.3 maps

Chances are it wont compile the map if you put the number that big.

no it will, and not in hammer, in game, but the same thing happens as in hammer, i can see but only for so far, if i fly over to the area then it becomes visible.

Select the texture tool and click on the problematic area. The select the scaling and set both X and Y scaling to 1

Should fix that.

>_< so simple!, argh, but its so hard to select stuff when your terrain is so detaild! i think i may need a new comp, somtimes when i mess with the vertex manipulator my hammer just crashes and comp says out of memory.... that and if i try and select everything at once and move it or something. BAD MOJO. thank you for your help as always

if i set textures to 1:1 i get errors durring compiling, and it says that the problem is most likely lvl size or scale of textures, and since thats the only thing i changed im inclined to believe that's what the problem is.

ok so this is normal right?... i can see the floor of sky box over edge


but this is the gay part,

if i fly towards the boxes they become visible, but at distance, bots, and brushes are invisable.

my max view distance is at 16000! what 2 do?

if i make a map with nothing but a floor and a skybox, and set the texture to 1:1 on every triangle on the floor i get the error, if its just one square then i dont get that error, but i cant do triangle mapping without the triangles.

While you need to use triangles. You allso need to know how to use those triangles.

BTW what are you using to compile your maps?

Cause some compilers have a view distance override setting.

nothing...

but another problem >_< LEAKS!! IVE NEVER MADE A MAP WITH LEAKS TILL JUST NOW!! it says its the player start, so i deleated it and remade one, then it said it was the light, so again i delete , but its still telling me its a leak, and if i make 4 player starts and 3 lights , it still says only one leak, what do i do start over?
