trying to find some old b movie

ive been trying to find a movie i saw when i was like 8 i dont know they name of it but thout maybe if i poat some one might know the name of it all i can remember i think it was like a low buge movie about a cop going after some killer set in like the 70's or 80s time in the movie and this killer had like a van and like some big comp or some thing like that and it wood shot like a laser beam at places he was targetting and the beam wood like melt people in to gooze or some thing like that then but thats about it i wood like to see it agin if any one has a clue on it plz post or a place that might carry alot of old or b movies
