Not many times you will ever see a big name group let everybody download a whole 43:45 music cd for free. If you haven't listened to Nine Inch Nails before or have and enjoyed it then I suggest downloading this awesome cd.

Also since I own all the NiN cd's cause of the halo's each cd is released with I'll probably end up buying it but still its nice to see some people in the music industry give their fans something like this.

I don't like the album, but I appreciate what he's trying to do.

Same here. Listened to every song, not really my thing, but it's good to see some are trying to do this.

I think they're doing what Radiohead is doing, don't 100% this on me, but my friend told me.

Apparently Radiohead did this and had a "Donate to the band" button, but had the music on their site for free download. Apparently that album gave them the most money they've ever received.

I think we're on the verge of a music revolution, and personally I like this way better. It's better for the fans.

Plus, CD's suck. lolar

Don't even compare NiN to Radiohead. Radiohead ****ed anyone who didn't buy their album by giving them sub-par quality copies. Reznor hasn't and will never do that as he respects his fans, not to mention once you download or purchase his album, you can do whatever the hell you want with, including but not limited to remixing all of the songs and sending the album to your friends.

Oh, as I said, don't quote me perfectly on that. I didn't know they gave out **** quality.

It's good Reznor respects his fans. I wonder how they got the studio to release it for free? Unless they just got together and recorded an album by themselves with no record companies.

He's able to do it because his contract expired. Now he can do whatever the hell he wants, and this is what he chose to do. That's why he's a peg below Maynard.

Reznor is the ****ing man and is on my would-go-*** for list. And yes, Radiohead copied him not the other way around. Radiohead are little *****ed and their music sucks anyways.

A lot of bands have already stated that they don't care about people downloading their music, as long as they still buy the merch and go to see their concerts, they're happy.

Though I don't mind buying CD's anyway. I'm one of them old fashioned people that buy good stuff.

Awesome way to stick it to to RIAA. The industry needs all the independency it can get.

Wow just because Radiohead didn't release a full FLAC they are copying lying cheating bastards with bad music? I disagree. Not sure how they copied since they did this thing about a year ago, unless he announced that long ago that he was going to do this. Irregardless there are plenty of bands who are doing this and many more publishers looking into the idea of changing how they sell music online.

Radiohead does not suck, they are innovators in the music industry, and total badasses.

*Edit

THIS is the link I wanted for relevance to the music industry changing how it presents it's media to us

Reznor's been releasing album after album for free ever since his contract expired whereas Radiohead has released one, and to be frank, it was horrible. I'm into all kinds of music, but I found the album to be wholly unlistenable. So no, Radiohead doesn't suck because they shafted anyone who downloaded their album for free. I'm sure they just wanted to give people an incentive to buy their album. Radiohead sucks, just because their music is bad.

I mean, great bands don't get hate sites like this: http://radioheadsucks.com/

It wasn't only that, Radiohead also made the option to pay for the album if people wanted to, but never released how much money they actually made when asked, which is a load of b/s if you ask me.

And Radiohead are far from badasses. Unless you have long flowing hair, a huge bear and sing about Odin and Thor, then you are a badass.

Personally I liked the album a whole lot, and looking into the past I think Radiohead has had some great albums, but that's my musical preference. To each his own. Though I admit you feel and enjoy the music a whole lot more when you're baked. (but isn't that true of all music)

But back to the subject has anyone actually listened to the album? I'm listening to it now, and admittedly not much of a fan of NIN (haven't really listened to them much in the last few years) the album is ok. Nothing that impressed me, but nothing that made me say it's ****.

Edit* Barney, are all of your financial records available to the public?

Ok I'll stop, this isn't a thread about Radiohead and TBH I don't follow bands to the point where I know stuff about them as well as their music. I just listen to the music. I like Radiohead, apparently that puts me in the minority, I get it.

Pretty much how I feel about it. Certainly not his best work. I'm still waiting on the second half of Year Zero.

It just seems kind of bland, no spice to the sound. The first song almost sounded exactly like the had that feeds.

I'm assuming you're a fan of the band, what album would you recommend to give me a good evaluation of his sound?

The Fragile and The Downward Spiral. I like the former more than the latter, but the opposite seems to be true for most fans I've spoken to.
