A party level restriction system that means two characters have to be within 10 levels of each other to form an alliance. Same for parties with more characters. This is really to stop level 99 characters 'power-levelling' level 1 characters, when they do the result is you get loads of level 60+ n00bs who don't know how to do anything, or use their power responsibly.

Also, I would like to see a 'Party Level' whereby the party (not the members IN the party) also has it's own levelling system, say the party level is 4, that means only people with a party level of 4 or above can join it. This stops people joining together just for EXP then leaving, they actually have to stick with the party. The more quests done or bosses killed in the party raises the level. So team players will be rewarded and n00bs will be encouraged to band together.

All mmorpg's have a cap, a limit on how high you can level up. In the end they get old because you can't progress anymore, i'd say, do something with that and you'll have something original.

I would be in favour of a mmorpg that was not levele based, but skill based. This would allow less experienced players to play with higher leveled ones in certain areas. Planetside would be a good example, but I'm not that big of a fan on FPS.
Also, allowing the player to get very connected with his character (Selectable backstory that would result in a cool personalized intro movie, as well as a detailed character creation). Some form of being able to interact with NPC's on a personal level (instead of making them feel like menus vendors) and multiple ways of playing your character

on what engine you gona create that MMORPG ?
not finally decided yet
Are there different Races or only Humans since its in our universe ?
i cannot think of any cool other races so im going for three different human kindoms
Weapon upgrades would be good too, so if someone gots an sword then it can be upgraded when you find an ORB (SOM).
you can either upgrade your weapon at a blacksmith and you can put in special items that gives the weapon extra stats like when you put in a "xxx" item the weapon will have +10maximum damage or so, etc...
There also should be somekond of Jobs you can do, some peeps like to just Heal other players , or work in an village as an Smithy but still have the opportunity to also go out and fight.
dont know about that yet, i dont want it as complex as ultima online or so but more action paced.. im gonna think about that.
Hows about Day and Night, special Events, Weather Effects (storms, rain, Earthquake)
there will be day/night and perhaps weather. there are some other special events, too but not earthquakes or so ^^
Curses/undeath/lycanthropy:
Could add all kinds of things like this that could happen to players depending on a number of factors involved.
yus, we already thought about curses and such :)
they shuold be rather rare though.
A traveling carnival might be kind of interesting to have in game. There might be all kinds of things that you could buy there that are unavailable in town, plus games and other attraction. There could be traveling merchants also.
yeah, we want to put in lots of stuff and persons to explore in the world. i like the idea with a carnival ^_^

about pets, im not sure yet if i should add pets to the game.

about dungons, i dont think there will be any dungons but all monsters are on the worldmap... perhaps there will be a few dungeuns though... depends on when we work out the final world layout.

find a way to eliminate "power gamers"
i guess that would be unfair. its up to the player if he wants to play 10 hours a day or just 1 hour so theres nothing really we can do about it
but in order to get good exp, you will have ti fight in a party, especially in higher levels ^^
Maybe a required downtime? Say you've been doing strenuous activity for a certain amount of time, well after a while you are going to get tired. So you head your self to the local Inn for some food, drink, and rest and relaxation.
yus, we already talked about adding bars and such and your player will have to eat, too. alsi in the bars/taverns you can do some extra (more likely funny and unusefull) stuff lol
I dunno if this counts, but make it free. I hate having to pay for good mmorpg's >_< (partly because I'm poor )
well, actually we'er already talking with a publisher - want to talk with others if they decline us ... but ist not sure if we get one lol ...
however, there will be a large open beta (pretending that we get the game that far .. what i really hope -_-")

short answer: yes

now thats an interesting idea, i gotta think about that :)

yeah but what? the level of your character represents your progress..
but belive me when i say that it will take damn long to reach the maximum level ;)

ugh, pretty long post ^_^

Just an idea, I'm sure most people will not agree but I don't care :p

I'd say when ever you fight a Human Player your stats and the enemies stats are compared and changed to make it an equal fight, that way the fights will be more strategic and also more fair, that way people who just started to play the game, will have a chance against all the veteran players. But if you fight an AI Opponent your stats won't be compared and changed but will remain according to your Level ofcourse. This way it will also eliminate those people who hunt for weak starting characters :p

If you include player killing, set a minimum level to declare hostility at (like in Diablo 2).

A tactics battlesystem, I love tactics or just a final fantasy mini game in a MMORPG with final fantasy tactics advanced or something close to that ;)

saiyanslayer said:
another good idea is the D20 system from Wizards

It's free and it's wildly accepted
You suck saiyanslayer, I was about to mention something about D&D ... :p

I really like the idea of being able to multiclass in Dungeons and Dragons. It opens up all kinds of possibilities to players, now the standard fighter might be able to heal himself and others or sneak around unheard. The possibilities for players really do become more broad that way.

If there are dungeons I would really like to see them dark. I hate seeing all these other games where you enter a cave or dungeon and someone conveniently lit torches for anyone that might enter. Light sources should have to be provided.

if ur gonna have player killing, to make it fair i guess you should have a level limiter, for example someone at level 25 can only attack or be attacked by people between levels 22-27 thus making it your own stupid fault if you get pwned by attacking someone lvl 27, but also so you cant go attacking n00bs

They need more interactive battles in MMO's, not the same old "auto-attack then use 2 or 3 skills over and over again"

Good variety in equipment, maybe allow people to make equipment and they can put whatever model they want on it. For example when you make a helmet, you get a helmet with the stats of whatever type of helmet you made, but you could name it whatever you want and put any model already in the game of a helmet on it . I hate having to choose between good gear and cool gear.

if theres PvP i wouldn't mind seeing some kind of bounty hunter system in there, i'd like to hunt down other players, the only problem with that is it doesn't have the same affect killing someone and they respawn with minor penalties, maybe make being hunted down majorly bad(not crippelingly bad, but it hurts a lot)

i've always hated it when you can't attack the lower level players. Not because i'm a griefer or anything, but in games where everyones attackable there have been some great moments that stick out in my memory as very fun. Little guys swarming a big guy, little guys attacking someone only to find out he's powerful and owns them all. All kinds of cool stuff. Plus its kinda of annoying RP wise, this little guy is making fun of you but you can't kill him because he's too weak...

edit: if theres pvp i don't think you should be able to find out other peoples levels, its more interesting that way, thats one of hte things i liked about swg/ultima, that seemingly harmless guy ypur attacking may be able to take on whole groups of people :D

I'm not sure if this is actually 'apart' of the gameplay in a MMORPG but I'd like to see a MMORPG stay free instead of pay to play. That pay to play is bull****. IMO A MMORPG should just stay free.

IMO A MMORPG should just stay free.
its either that or pay for every patch, the pay to play is content update and server maintanence.

i like the idea with the bountyhunter thingie .. but how should that work? ...

the idea that you cannot find out other players level (exept you ask them about their level ^^) is good, too. aslong as youre not in a party or guild together, you shouldnt be able to find out the other players levels.

and about pay to play... actually if we're getting that game into a beta stage, there'll be one or more open beta test phases but it will be p2p after that. unless someone donates us a ****load of money to pay the servers and bandwidth and such .. ^_^

heh how to do the bounty hunter thing has alway been the problem, it works out decently well in SWG but the only problem is dying doesn't do much, but you don't wanna penalize them too bad. Maybe being bounty killed can give some kind of debuff thats halfway bad, but it goes away while logged off too. Also they can't be bountied again while its still there to decrease griefing.
