I don't think it is Claymates... Wasn't Claymates a 2d scroller, not something with the bird's eye perspective?

This is the map screen you travel to and fro' in betwixt doing the sidescrolling levels. The map screen also has little puzzles. You see the two axes, yes? You use those to cut down the two trees blocking your path. The little cart on a track can be pushed aside. You do need to finish the sidescrolling level in order to obtain certain items that allow you to progress, I believe. You enter it by stepping into the whirlpool marked with an arrow.
