Hi,

why esf devs don't want to make esf-final SVN build available for public/community? I think community can offer server for uploads.

Pros:

*Devs self don't know when game will be finished;
*SVN shouldn't slow development process, maybe slightly;
*More people will be intrested in this project;

Not very fitting for a first post around these parts.

Cons:
*People complain about bugs constantly in the forum
*People expect perfection every release
*People throw tantrums about it not being their way ingame
*People expecting things to change every update

Why not sit back and wait like the rest of us?

Your pro's don't support your argument at all....

1. What does the team not knowing when the game is being finished have to do with putting the game on a public SVN being a good thing?

2. The development process not being slowed down when it's being put on a public SVN doesn't have anything to do with a public SVN being a good thing either.

3. This is actually highly debatable, because people will judge the incomplete game that's being put on the public SVN and ultimately be turned off.

I also like how your 2nd option on the poll is "No, I will wait 3+ years" when you, yourself stated that not even the team knows when the game is going to be completed. Why would you make that an option when it's possible that the update could come out within the coming months?

Even after final esf release people (noobs, kids) will complain about game perfection, gameplay, characters...

At least then, it wont be on a constant basis of each different build. Then it will be on the final product. They have Beta Testers for a reason.

There wouldn't be as many complaints compared to the scenario with a public svn being available.

I'm not going to allow this thread to continue, nothing good will come of it.

A) The poll is hilariously biased with the wording.
B) The developers had an open beta for a period of time. It was a lot of work for little gain, most people just tried it out for a short while and never bothered reporting any bugs.
C) They're hard at work on the game, it'll be done when it's done. Just have patience.

They're well aware that they can put the game on SVN if they want. This thread won't convince anyone of anything.

Also, bandwidth, do you have any idea of how much pipe that'd consume?
