If you only had the choice of having one of these substances in your food/candy/soda, which would it be?

I'll take good old sucrose (aka table sugar). Aspartame tends to make me light-headed (and, when I was younger, used to give me headaches). Plus, I don't really care for the aftertaste.

Our statistics state that two out of seven prefer aspartame to sucrose.

Drinks with sucrose tend to give me quite a bit of slime in my throat afterwards, whereas drinks with aspartame do not.

Plus, I'm addicted to Pepsi Max

The slime can be used for lubricating things.

Aspartame! Coke Zero tastes pretty close to traditional Coke, and has less than one calorie.

If calories weren't an issue, then sucrose.

Have you people gone mad? Listen to yourselves! Fighting over soft drinks and sugars.... You're like wild animals! Give me good ol' organic cows milk.

I'd go with table sugar because it's the boomdiggity on Total/Bran type cereals.

Sucrose. I'll avoid getting any products with aspartame whenever I can.
When you read up on aspartame, there's a lot of controversy over it causing health problems such as headaches, brain tumours, brain lesions, and lymphoma.
And coincidently, since keeping away from the stuff i pretty much haven't had a headache or upset stomach since.

Shuyin, the only real controversy about it is that it's converted into an amino acid in your body--one that some people are allergic to. If you read up on the controversy, you'll see that the results of studies into it are inconclusive and contradictory.
