So it's either your connection, your machine, or the server you're on. NOT the mod itself. End of story on that.

No Pride, nothing worse than me having to play at dirt bottom fps with only the needed programs running in the background no kazaa and at 1024x786. The highest res my moniter can handle. My GeForce 3 is more than enough to play this game fine. The system specs that someone said to be the recommended settings :
Pentium 4 1.8-2 Gigahertz
1 Gigabyte DDR Ram
GeForce 4
Jesus Christ those are way to high for a HALF LIFE Game. Not even Doom 3 needs those specs.

I think the lag in some cases is good. Makes you harder to get hit when you chop up hehe. But still ping is based on how much ram you have and connection. Right now ping in esf means how fast you execute your moves. You can always bump that up with cmd rate and update rate. Ping in this ver shouldn't be a factor in melee which I like.

Even with 4 people or less in a server I get HUGE framerate drops, WAY more than 1.0. Call me a noob or whatever you want, but let me just throw this out there; I get the same framerate in Enter the Matrix as I do in ESF. EXACT SAME. Same resolution, all quality FX turned off. EXACT SAME. ETM probably has 4 or 5 times the polys as ESF, explain to me how it is perfroming better. Awnser: YOU CAN'T. Just because people are having problems doesn't mean it's all thier fault, try to consider the possibilty that maybe the devs messed SOMETHING up. Don't just go assuming people are idiots.

Just checking, to make sure you did this stuff

1) Go to multiplayer > customize - set beams to crappy and gfx to low or medium

In your autoexec.cfg file put in cl_dusttrails 0

That improves fps in melee by quite a bit

Well, shocked to see this still open but anyway, grOOvy lives in england I live in NY and get no lag in his server. I think that beams and stuff like that can also cause lag and if thats the case better not play in ANY pub servers cuz all the n00bs do is spam it up so i get a little lag.

My pc spec are:

Windows xp home
GForce TI 4600g 128 meg
512mg rdram
2.4ghz P4 Processor
Lan connection speed

just for the record, ping can matter for a mod, if a mod is mostly client side, then you get more lag. but whats ESF concerned its more cuz of the distance, netspeed, and the host his PC. and by PC I dont just mean processor speed. the RAM is actually way more important.

*EDIT* oh and btw a lot of people mistake lag for bad FPS. bad FPS is just totally your PC's fault. while lag doesnt really matter on yer PC, its just the time it takes for your PC to communicate with the host. doesnt matter if you have 2ghz or a 1 ghz for that.
