As much as I love Steam, it has been giving me problems lately. When I open it up it says that CS: S and DOD: S is updating, but it never actually updates, and when I try and launch the game to try and speed up the updating process, it says that it is unavailable. Anyone else have this problem and/or know how to fix it? It also doesn't launch some mods like Insurgency or Fortress Forever.

Try this:
Right-click on the game > "Properties" > "Local Files" tab > "Verify integrity of game cache..."
Or, you could delete the "ClientRegistry.blob" file located in your Steam folder. Keep in mind that your login information will be deleted as well, so hopefully you have your information written down somewhere.
If those don't work, then you might need to reinstall them.
