To sum it up:
Game saves, key configurations and preferences will be tied to your Steam account. This means that if you delete a game from your PC or move from one PC to another, you'll regain all of your saved games and configs upon redownloading the game.

I actually read about this in an interview like a year or two ago. Interesting to see how long it takes for them to make the features available for the public.

As for the future, driver auto-updating is a planned feature, as well as the ability for steam to scan your PC and tell you how well any game in it's catalog will run on it. Valve is destroying Games For Windows Live.

auto driver update = bad thing imho ... had some troubles with the most recent nvidia drivers a little while ago. A notification would be cool though.

Yeah. I doubt it'll update without any consent from you, though, that'd be idiotic. I'd hope that it'd just be notification stating "Steam has detected that your XX drivers aren't up to date. Would you like Steam to update them?", with an option at the bottom to not show this message again. They could completely **** that up, though, but I doubt it =/

Sounds pretty nifty to me. :D, but I never had to use save games though as I barely remove games.

Steam already has a driver detecting system.
it tells you when your drivers are horribly out of date.

however it doesn't warn you for each upgrade, it only goes off when the driverversions are pre-game release date or something along those lines

Steam once told me my 8800GTS wasn't compatible with Half-Life 2 / Team Fortress 2 and also told me it was out-of-date when I used the latest drivers.. Steam is not always right ya know :p.

and that's exactly the reason why automated a driver install function should never be added
there are just to many possible hardware variations

Is steam even allowed to update something without permission? I mean, I can understand it for Steam and it's games as they own those games as they are hosted on Steam. But NVIDIA doesn't belong to them in anyway.

Steam has been getting much better recently. Congrats to Valve for that.

Well as far as I know, drivers are free. So by making users download them automatically through Steam just saved Nvidia their bandwidth, right?

I wonder if the keyboard configuration thing works with third partymods. I'm going to go out on a limb and say no.

Problem is, third party mods aren't hosted by steam.
Neither is your config, however your config is rather small and can easily be stored.
mods however is another story.
even so, I don't think they will add it right now but I wouldn't say they would never add it at all because it's a good option to have!
