steam.exe :need help plz :)

ok first thing i did was,
uninstalled esf 1.1
then downloaded 1.2 lite
then started installing it (i didnt get to choose between won or steam)
came up with installation directory thing with a steam directory in it
i change it to C:Serria/ConterStrike/esf
it said ok and finished installing
i double clicked on the shortcut it places on the desktop and it says
this shortcut is missing a file : steam.exe
so i tried it from the menu same thing
so i thought bugger i need help
and REAL help would be at most appreciated :thx:
i want to install it as a WON game

Change it to

C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\cs.exe -console -game esf

If that doesnt work try this

C:\Sierra\CounterStrike\cs.exe -console -game esf

it says
"the name C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\cs.exe -console -game esf specified in the target box is not valid. make sure the path and file name are correct

i just changed the directory to C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike cs.exe -console - game esf and it started loading but then said something about couldnt find 1080_melee text and 1080_scouter text or something like that
then it says preaching resources then exits the game

Ok Lemme try an explain this a little bit more clearer

first off i want to use WON
1. I unistalled Counter Strike (ESF 1.1 works with it )
2. Reinstalled it then downloaded ESF 1.2 Lite
3. Started setup (I did'nt get a choice between WON and Steam)
4. The directory it was going to install to was C:\Valve\Steam\Steamapps\Email\ or something like that so i changed it to C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\
5. When it finished the setup i double-clicked on the shortcut that was placed on my desktop and it said Couldnt find Steam.exe
6. So i changed the directory to C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\cstrike.exe -console -game esf and it came with no directory exsisted
7. So i changed the directory again to C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike cstrike.exe -console -game esf and it took me to Counter Strike
8. So I went to custom games and activated esf 1.2
9. I created my own LAN game and it said Missing Bitmap gfx\vgui\fonts\1024 melee text and scouter text
10. Then it said preaching resources, the said preaching done and exited
11. I changed the resolution to 800 by 600 and it only said that 800 Melee text was missing, then it said preaching resources again and exited
12. So i copied the 600 Melee text and renamed it to 800 Melee text and it still said preaching resources then exited me
13. Then i deleted that file and the shortcut and made a shortcut of cstrike.exe onto the desktop like "Classified" said. Renamed it to ESF + the icon was changed as well
14. I changed the directory from C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\cstrike.exe
to C:\Sierra\Counter-Strike\cstrike.exe -console -game esf
15. I double clicked on the new shortcut i made and nothing loaded, it wasnt even in the custom games list of Counter-Strike

Someone help me out
btw i do not need a new comp
any and all help is Extremly Apreciated

Maybe a corrupt installer seeing you're missing some files
So redl from another mirror and install

The missing melee text thing is known I believe...precache and exits? Sounds to me like you are having a timeout from the server. To fix it just connect to it twice and it should work.

Just keep connecting when you get timed out, should work on the Second time around.

Dont ask for a CD key, thats bad

Just buy the game..or if you have it you can shuffle round your reg for the cd key.

First off I am very impressed with the help at this site, the help people don't just say "use search"
Ok, my problem is when I DL and install evrything works fine, untill I try to pen the game, it takes me the HL with no link in Custom games and in filter. I have ESF installed in my D drive under games\Half-Life\Half-Life.
If you need to know anything else just ask.
Nut I need help I have been hacking at this prob for over a month. :S

Try making this shortcut

D:\Games\Half-Life\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game esf

should work.

But now it says I have a diffrent .dll file than the server
and when I place my mouse over Gohan it says Goku on the screen...

either it's a 1.1 esf server or you need to put the fmod.dll which you can find on esf world in your half-life folder
