Has anyone played Sonic Heroes for any of the systems?
I was given Sonic Heroes for X-Box.
Anyway, here's my review of the game.
Graphics-7/10
Gameplay-5/10
Sound-4/10
Music-2/10
Story-1/10
Tilt=4/10
Originality: 1/10
Overall Rating: 4/10. (Definitely not worth playing unless you absolutely worship Sonic, and then only to keep "Sega alive.")
The graphics in the game are pretty good, but they're definitely nothing exceptional. They didn't try nearly as much as even with Sonic Adventure 2.
The story is pretty much non-existant. Sonic gets a 'letter' from Eggman inviting him to stop him from taking over the world in seven days.
I gave the Gameplay a 5/10, higher then it should be, for the sheer 'differentness' of the game. You have to work with all 3 characters at once, per team.
Team Sonic: Sonic, Knuckles, Tails
Team Rose: Amy, Big the Cat, "Cream The Rabbit"
Team Shadow: Shadow, Rouge, Omega
Team Chaotix: "Igles the Chameleon," "Vector the Crocodile," '...Charmy Bee"
You have to simultaneously switch between the characters when you meet their obstacles. Flying obstable? No problem. Switch to Tails/'Cream'/Rouge/'Charmy,' and they'll fly you over.
Need something bashed through? Knuckles/Big/Omega/'Vector' will do it happily.
And for plain old speed--Amy, Sonic, Shadow and 'Igles.'
They invented characters to have enough for each category for each team, which is quite lame. And with such 'charming' names like 'Charmy Bee' and "Cream the Rabbit," etc..
Most importantly, the game is not FUN.
The other sonic games focused MOSTLY on Sonic, and it was fun to run through the levels at blazing speeds, showing off the Dreamcast's graphics.
The gameplay is enormously slowed down, even when you learn how to do it well, by having to switch characters.
They removed the vastly improved (in SA2) 'chou' system, as well.
In my opinion, they should make another game focused on what made the original games what they were--Sonic. Highspeed. Fun.
One good thing is they revived the 'Chaos' levels to get the emeralds, found on even numbered levels. They're fun, sorta. But you have to get the 'key' in the level and beat the level without dying.
All the teams have the same gameplay, even the same levels, except for Team Chaotix who have some sort of 'investigating' mode. In the first level, you're "hired" to find ten 'crabs' throughout the level.
The voiceacting is okay, same as always. They didn't try on the music at all. Even SA2, a mediocre game, had some great music.
They also added Team Combo attacks. You have a bar that fills up whenever you do a 'team oriented' move. It just destroys everything on the screen.
If they wanted to make a revolutionary game, they should have it starting with Sonic able to go 'Super Sonic' and Shadow as well, as well as Shadow having access to Chaos Control. Maybe even a "Sonic RPG." It worked for Mario.
If you played and agree/disagree with the review, please tell me why.
