Has anyone played Sonic Heroes for any of the systems?
I was given Sonic Heroes for X-Box.
Anyway, here's my review of the game.

Graphics-7/10
Gameplay-5/10
Sound-4/10
Music-2/10
Story-1/10
Tilt=4/10
Originality: 1/10

Overall Rating: 4/10. (Definitely not worth playing unless you absolutely worship Sonic, and then only to keep "Sega alive.")

The graphics in the game are pretty good, but they're definitely nothing exceptional. They didn't try nearly as much as even with Sonic Adventure 2.
The story is pretty much non-existant. Sonic gets a 'letter' from Eggman inviting him to stop him from taking over the world in seven days.

I gave the Gameplay a 5/10, higher then it should be, for the sheer 'differentness' of the game. You have to work with all 3 characters at once, per team.

Team Sonic: Sonic, Knuckles, Tails
Team Rose: Amy, Big the Cat, "Cream The Rabbit"
Team Shadow: Shadow, Rouge, Omega
Team Chaotix: "Igles the Chameleon," "Vector the Crocodile," '...Charmy Bee"

You have to simultaneously switch between the characters when you meet their obstacles. Flying obstable? No problem. Switch to Tails/'Cream'/Rouge/'Charmy,' and they'll fly you over.
Need something bashed through? Knuckles/Big/Omega/'Vector' will do it happily.

And for plain old speed--Amy, Sonic, Shadow and 'Igles.'

They invented characters to have enough for each category for each team, which is quite lame. And with such 'charming' names like 'Charmy Bee' and "Cream the Rabbit," etc..

Most importantly, the game is not FUN.
The other sonic games focused MOSTLY on Sonic, and it was fun to run through the levels at blazing speeds, showing off the Dreamcast's graphics.
The gameplay is enormously slowed down, even when you learn how to do it well, by having to switch characters.

They removed the vastly improved (in SA2) 'chou' system, as well.
In my opinion, they should make another game focused on what made the original games what they were--Sonic. Highspeed. Fun.
One good thing is they revived the 'Chaos' levels to get the emeralds, found on even numbered levels. They're fun, sorta. But you have to get the 'key' in the level and beat the level without dying.

All the teams have the same gameplay, even the same levels, except for Team Chaotix who have some sort of 'investigating' mode. In the first level, you're "hired" to find ten 'crabs' throughout the level.

The voiceacting is okay, same as always. They didn't try on the music at all. Even SA2, a mediocre game, had some great music.
They also added Team Combo attacks. You have a bar that fills up whenever you do a 'team oriented' move. It just destroys everything on the screen.

If they wanted to make a revolutionary game, they should have it starting with Sonic able to go 'Super Sonic' and Shadow as well, as well as Shadow having access to Chaos Control. Maybe even a "Sonic RPG." It worked for Mario.

If you played and agree/disagree with the review, please tell me why.

Yeah. I've had a bit of trouble with jumping towards the little levers that lift you up in the 'escape the lava' part of that one mission. Keep falling through it.

They really need to bring back the Genesis way of playing. Just running and blowing stuff up. Simple and very fun \o/

I totally agree with you. They need to revert to what made the original games good. High speed, combat, and focus around Sonic, possibly Shadow/Tails/Knuckles. But they desperately need to get rid of these garbage characters--Vector, Igles, 'Charmy Bee,' 'Cream the Rabbit,' Rouge.. They're all completely unnecessary. Amy should be in the games, but only in cutscenes, not as a playable character. Maybe some minigames, but that's it.

There you go, Someone else that still believes in Sonic, and the possibilities of a 3D Sonic. I haven't played Sonic Heroes yet, but what I hear is not good... I'll by it, of course, but reluctantly. I'll tell the guy behind the counter that. He'll understand.

I hear the GameCube version is the best, BTW.

They've had it wrong since even Sonic Adventure 1. Nobody cares about cheap shoot'em-up levels or mindless gem hunting. People play Sonic for Sonic, and what Sonic does.... run super fast around entertaining courses with fun music and cool moves. They thought in their heart of hearts they were bringing variety to the Sonic genre when in fact it was practically a bunch of boring mini-games. Boring mini-games that take up about 2/3 of the game.

But I did love what racing parts there were in SA1 and 2. They should've just wiped out all that wasteful excess for more stages. And hell I'd play as Knuckles in those racing stages. Why? Because he's the man... who cares if Sonic is faster...

/me awaits a MOD coming to this tread saying "This would go better in the Sonic Heroes forum"... ;P

Sadly as a Sonic fan, I am really disapointed, but also because I'm a Sonic fan, I just had to get it. The most fun part is racing against someone, just for the pure speed of the game. Still, it's the best Sonic game on the Xbox. ^^*

Same here :]

But yeah the disapointing part is that it's not as good as the old sonic on my Sega Mega drive... but nowadays games NEED 3d...

And the more characters... meh. I only played with Team: Sonic  (I just bought the game)

After playing some more :) :

It's a lot better then Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. The view and stuff.
But still I like the old Sonic from the SEGA Mega drive

But Sonic Heroes is just different so it's not comparible with the old ones IMO

No, it's a mix of Adventures and the 2D games, and that I liked, but there were a lot of bugs, like sounds startng late and other stuff. They did a better job on the camera, but it still would get stuck and not look the right way sometimes. Also, there is no story, really... atleast adventure gave a hint of one.

SA and SA2 had stories.. Sonic Heroes is more like "Oh, by the way. There's a cutscene here. Please watch it. But you don't have to." The characters in SA1 and 2 had goals. In Heroes, they're just running to stop "Eggman in 24 hours," besides Team Chaotix who is being "hired" for random things, of which finding interesting crabs on the beach level is one of them. And by the way, Hibiki, you obviously haven't played it, or you wouldn't say "It's just like the 2D games." It's NOTHING like the 2D games, and -that's the problem-.

Well I've been playing some more... The game has flaws (at leasts mine does :O ) I played like 1 hour straight and suddenly, while in a looping, Sonic got 'slammed' out of the looping and died (falling down). And that about 10 times in a row... at the same spot :( . That was annoying. But furthermore there are some minor flawws like getting stuck between some rocks or other things. And then suddenly it's above that rock... That kind of things.

But the game is still just for fun... And I just wanted to check it out, if it was an improvement from Sonic Adventure.. but it's not :( . There is no 'Super Sonic' anymore thats a shame also, but that was not implied anymore after Sonic 3 on the SEGA Mega Drive.
