Well, my current system is no longer pretty good.

Pent. 4 - 2.4 GHZ
512 DDR RAM
40 Gig HD
Geforce 5200 128 Mb
Powersupply: (get ready for a laugh) 160W

So I am going to upgrade some stuff.

Thermaltake Silent PurePower, 420W ATX power supply

ATi X700 256 Mb

After that, I will probably buy a new HD, motherboard/processor, and then RAM. Any suggestions?

For the HDD go with Western Digital or Seagate, 7200rpm of course. Anything slower is a joke and anything faster is too expensive and only comes in 74gb.

If you're going pentium get an ASUS board

This looks like a great deal for a SATA HDD.

512 is probably good enough, another 512 stick wouldn't hurt.

If you're looking to upgrade for the future, i'd check out some of the AMD 64 bit chips, if you want something that'll get you by, you can look for some of the 3.0 Ghz P4's.
This is where i buy my CPU/Mobo combos, they'll put it together for you and pretest if needed. http://www.pcboost.com/store/listproducts.asp?IDCategory=51
If you buy a mobo/cpu/memory combo you get a price break on the memory.
