Well my poll on the best Guitarist out there is generating quite a few hits so I thought Id throw this one in for all of you bass connoisseurs out there. So this one is gonna be more difficult to generate the hits but lets see what we can do alright?

My vote it with Geddy Lee(RUSH) my idol...and the man whom i want to father my children :p
His work in the song free will as well as his work on vapor trails is amazing...there are 4 bass lines runing simultaneously on the vapor trails album.

you dont know shredding bass untill youve heard Billy Sheehan, formerly of Racer X, Mr.big, Paul Gilbert, David Lee Roth, and now Steve Vai

The only reason I ever liked Red Hot Chili Peppers was because of Flea.

So yeah, my vote is definately for Flea.

Oh god . . . so close, I can only vote for one . . .

Lester Claypool for meh, the man is a god on the bass. Flea and Cliff Burton were close seconds.

I like Flea and Cliff Burton, but when I was a bassist I did some cool stuff myself.

I was gonna say Jason Newstead, but then I noticed Cliff was there :p Yay for being up for less than an hour :p And yes I'm biased towards old'tallica ("Kill 'em all" to "...And justice for all")

I voted Cliff Burton, cos the man was phenomenal. Behind him I'd have the Primus man. But someone I think deserves a very honourable mention is Stu Hamm, the bassist for Joe Satriani, he's absolutely brilliant, especially live. Actually that whole ensemble in talented...

stu hamm is very good, but hes no billy sheehan, he just doesnt have the same stage presence or (believe it or not) technical ability.

sheehan actually plays bass in harmony with via and paul gilbert at the same speed they play their guitars...
