I know their are some Kenshin Fans here so I thought it'd be
the best place to ask questions. I have never seen Rurouni Kenshin
untill they premiered it on Cartoon Network. The only thing on Kenshin
I ever saw was Samurai X. So this is where my Questions begin.

1.) What the hell!? Kenshin is so... Happy in the Series...
Is it a Side Story? Or a Sequel to Samurai X? Cause it really doesn't
look like it...

2.) In Samurai X his Personality never changed. In the End the
only thing that changed was who he was fighting for. Atleast thats
how it seemed to me. Are both Samurai X and Rurouni Kenshin
made by two diffrent companies or somethin'?

And I guess thats about it. But never the less. Rurouni Kenshin
is pretty cool. However I hate seeing his eyes grow big or seeing
him fool around and then when it comes to battle he starts preaching
and acting like himself. Only he doesn't cut anyone down to peices
he just knocks them out with the back of his sword :\

i suppose i'll say ***SPOILER ALERT***

Yeah the series came first, those OVAs you probobly watched were made as a prequel to explain exactly what his past was.

Story: Back in the DAY (during the bakumatsu, a period of transition between the two eras) Kenshin was a Hitokiri (translates simply to "assasin." Battousai translates to "draw master", as in master of the art of drawing the sword and striking all at once.) He got taught the mighty art of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu from that master guy Hiko Seijuro who saved his life as an infant. He had a dark and distant personality, that had changed from his original, more idealistic one, since over time he had become a ruthless assasin (he worked for a group known as the Isshin Shishi).

So he meets this girl named Tomoe. She's the husband of some guy he assasinated earlier (he doesn't find this out 'till the end) but blah blah the husband doesn't have a lot to do with the story. Kenshin falls in love with Tomoe. Anyway, a group of men are hired to kill Kenshin. Kenshin takes out 3 of them, goes for the main guy, main guy is tough, Kenshin and him charge each other. It's evident from his condition that Kenshin is gonna die in this charge, so Tomoe jumps in the middle and grabs the head assasin's arm, stopping him. But Kenshin, who has his eyes closed for some reason, swings, and his sword goes and kills both Tomoe and the big boss guy.

Kenshin is traumatized even moreso than he's ever been, and promises that after the new age has been brought in (the Meiji Era) he will never kill again. So then the series starts. Kenshin wants to help people now, so yes he's all nice now and for the sake of things he gets into comical situations. His life in the series is him trying to repent for all the people he slaughtered and the unhappiness he brought. His sword now is the Sakabatou; basically a katana with the sharp edge on the OPPOSITE side (the one that faces you when you hold it out) and the blunt end being the front, so that now he just sort of beats people up with this sturdy piece of metal rather than slice them up.

The personality is similar though. He is still REALLY calm almost all the time. It's just he tries to be kinder now, and more friendly/helpful. He's still relatively distant from people.

Well that explains it... You say Samurai X came AFTER the
Series so the people go on and screw it up by making him a bad ass
when in the series he was friendly :p but anyway I still prefered
Samurai X. And yeah he does seem more calm at times when hese
in battle in Rurouni. But still I prefered his bad ass personality :p

Arg stop telling me things about Samurai X I already know the
entier Storyline of Samurai X! Im just confused on the resemblance
between Rurouni Kenshin and Samurai X. But anyway, Nevermind
I think the Episode they gave today on Cartoon Network pretty
much explained some things.

Ruroini Kenshin = Samurai X
Its just that America needed to change the name for some stupid reason ;/

I think the OVA's are much better drawn then the series
And the mangas (the little book thingies) have a chapter that
doesnt appear in the series and it explains Kenshin's past :D

Proud Prince if you want a movie where lots of people get slashed up you should get Ninja Scroll
