Use a sound recorder and have your recording settings within your volume control panel set to "What U Hear". Then just play the movie and hit the record button for your sound recorder and it will record the sound from the movie.

You need a sound recording program, I use GoldWave (http://www.goldwave.com).

Next you need to change your recording settings within your Volume Control Panel. Open up your Volume Control Panel, click on "Options" and then click on "Properties". There should be two radio buttons, one titled "Playback" and the other "Recording". You want you select the "Recording" radio button and make sure that everything in the list below is checked, click "Ok".

Now your Volume Control Panel should be different and show recording options. While viewing your recording options, you are only able to check one option at a time so in this case check the "What U Hear" option, and make sure the slider is set all the way up. You can exit or minimize the Volume Control Panel, and then open up your recording program. Simply play the movie and find the part you would like to record. Once you find the part you wish to record, pause the movie right before it starts and go to your recording program and hit record (You might have to create a new audio file first, to do so, just go to "File" and click "New", then set up the options the way you like for now).

Here are some things you can read through:

http://articles.thewavelength.net/228/

The first link tells you what the parameters you need to set for the sound file in order for it to work in-game.

And I have goldwave.

Line-In and Auxillary only work if you had something plugged into your sound card/computer such as a stereo.

Pretty much. Just be careful with the volume since it records exactly the same level as you have it set at.

GoldWave limits you to recording for a minute if it's unregistered. Unfortunately you have to buy it if you wish to record more than a minute (among other things). GoldWave is the only good sound recorder that I know of and the only one I use, so hopefully some one will come by and recommend another one.

About what format the file should be in -
  • 22 kHz frequency (22 kHz is better quality)
  • Recorded in the .wav format, uncompressed.
  • 8-bit (I've read that 16-bit might work as well)
  • Mono

This is what I did:

Created a new file - Mono, 22050 Hz.
Recorded sound
Saved as 16 bit, mono, signed.

Results:

http://www.freewebs.com/danotoriousmc/Movie_0001.rar (Sorry about the .rar format, if I used a .zip format then it would have been 13.5 Mb for a clip that is only a few seconds long).

If doing the same thing doesn't work then maybe recording with the "Stereo Mix" might be causing the problem. Can you post the sound you want to use? I'll take a look at it.
