Okay, I'm really into witty and deep quotes from ancient phylosophers and I have a lot that I love so... here. Oh and post your favorites!

ARISTOTLE

Happiness is the highest good, being a realization and perfect practice of virtue, which some can attain, while others have little or none of it...

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

Wit is educated insolence

A tyrant must put on the appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the gods on his side

What is a friend? A friend is a single soul dwelling in two bodies

We make war that we may live in peace.

It is in justice that the ordering of society is centered.

In the arena of human life the honors and rewards fall to those who show their good qualities.

A friend is a second self.

All paid jobs absorb and degrade the mind.

All human actions have one or more of these seven causes: chance, nature, compulsion, habit, reason, passion, and desire.

CONFUCIUS

Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life.

An oppressive government is more to be feared than a tiger.

Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.

Wherever you go, go with all your heart

I saw some piglets suckling their dead mother. After a short while they shuddered and went away. They had sensed that she could no longer see them and that she wasn't like them any more. What they loved in their mother wasn't her body, but whatever it was that made her body live.

I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand

If you do not change the direction in which you are going, you will end up where you are headed.

Only the wisest and stupidest of men don't change.

PLATO

That man is wisest who, like Socrates, realises that his wisdom is worthless

Only the dead have seen the end of war

Is that which is holy loved by the gods because it is holy, or is it holy because it is loved by the gods? - Euthyphro 10

What I say is that 'just' or 'right' means nothing but what is in the interest of the stronger party. - Thrasymachus in The Republic.

No human thing is of serious importance.

There is no such thing as a lover's oath.

The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.

Death is not the worst than can happen to men.

Ignorance, the root and the stem of every evil.

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

PYTHAGORAS

Concern should drive us into action and not into a depression. No man is free who cannot control himself.

As long as man continues to be the ruthless destroyer of lower living beings he will never know health or peace. For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other.

Choose rather to be strong of soul than strong of body.

Reason is immortal, all else mortal.

It is better wither to be silent, or to say things of more value than silence. Sooner throw a pearl at hazard than an idle or useless word; and do not say a little in many words, but a great deal in a few.

Above all things, reverence yourself.

Do not talk a little on many subjects, but much on a few.

SOCRATES

The only thing I know is that I know nothing.

The unexamined life is not worth living.

Do not do to others what angers you if done to you by others.

Get not your friends by bare compliments, but by giving them sensible tokens of your love.

Envy is the ulcer of the soul.

The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance.

Think not those faithful who praise all thy words and actions; but those who kindly reprove thy faults.

An honest man is always a child.

Be slow to fall into friendship; but when thou art in, continue firm and constant.

Beauty is the bait which with delight allures man to enlarge his kind.

Beware the barrenness of a busy life.

Children nowadays are tyrants. They contradict their parents, gobble their food and tyrannise their teachers.

All men's souls are immortal, but the souls of the righteous are immortal and divine.

Here's a couple Churchill quotes:

"I am prepared to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter."

"Yesterday, December 7, 1941 - a date which will live on in infamy - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan."
All I got for now.

"There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you." I been sayin' that **** for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a mother****er 'fore you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some **** this mornin' made me think twice. Now I'm thinkin', it could mean you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. .45 here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that **** ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin'. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd."
