Plz Help With Lag

I seem to have trouble joning a server everytime i join it frezzes up and then ill have to enter a second time in order to get in and then when i do get in i lagged the sevrer which makes people angry how do i fix that??? and also could someone tell me how to fix this other lag problem when i create me own server and then after like i start to fight someone and then i might wanna swicth charctrs and everytime i do it lags the whole sever????

1.) Crashing: The time when you join a server/make one is the time when the in-game video mode is initialized. That 'could' be one cause, check what video mode you're set on. Make sure it's openGL and a stable resolution.

2.) Lag: What connection are you running? What are your computer specs? Are you having problems in all servers (even ones close to your location)? Have you read and followed the instructions in these tweaks: http://forum.esforces.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23632 ? Try using them, it helps a lot for your fps, might not help lag that much though.

Also check that you are joining local servers otherwise it usually lags
