Well, shortly they are bombing Baghdad badly. Seems to be part of the "shock and awe" strategy that the Americans are using. Also Turkey has allowed American troops to use Turkish airspace so expect more troops.

I dont know what to feel really. I want this to be over very quickly and have as few a casualties as possible.

If they succeed in "cutting off the head of the snake" which is killing Saddam then it will most likely be a short war. However is Saddam lives on it will be a long war.

What suprised me most is how they are bombing Baghdad severly and everyone at my school seemed ok with it. Do people not realize how many civilians are going to be killed by this? In those little tiny tomahawk cruise missilie attacks already 150 civilians died from what were suppose to be precise military attacks at Saddam. Just imagine how many will die in this total bombarment of bombs.

i know what you mean, in my school the Current issues class which is made of seniors, about 10 or so of whom are in the military, and the teachers didnt even bother to discuss it *******s :\

What are you talking about? This has nothing to do with a clan...;/

I'm not knowledgable enough to have an opinion on this "war".

But I do know there is a clause in the UN that says that we can't just go out right and kill Saddam. It is a war crime. And so far the US has been bombing places that they assume he is in.

Excuse me? Last time I checked this was a war thread.

Saddam is nowhere a big of threat as everyone pretends. The real problem are the countries that have nukes like Iran, N. Korea. and possibly the Saudis. However, you know no one wants to start **** with them cuz it could be the end of the world.

I dont know what the president plans on achieving by taking Iraq. Its not the oil. No president would be that foolish.

Bush is one of the best presidents in a few decades. Why? Cuz he surrounds himself with good people. He might not be a genius but his advisors and cabinet are full of them. The president might make the final decision but Bush is basically being lead by his people.

Saddam is a bad leader and deserves to be atleast disarmed if not dethrowned, however it could have all worked out a lot better if we kept pushing the UN into forcing him. Saddam isnt worth going to war for becuz he doesnt pose much of a threat at all anymore. he doesnt deserve to have lethal weapons, that I agree, but to wage war againt him for little cause seems fruitless.

Everyone knows Saddam doesnt support bin Laden. Everyone knows he doesnt have nukes. He does have bio and chemical weapons that DO need to be taken away but if we just kept pushing hard enough witht he UN for a few months to a year they would get tired of our *****ing and force Saddam to give em up.

We can never seem to do things diplomatically. We dont have the patience or the stamina. But it seems after the war we are always the brightest when it comes to new policies put in place. The irony is astonishing.

I think the war is being fought for all the wrong reasons, and there is no reason we should be attacking saddam over any of the other tyrannical dictators. Besides, you saw what happened the last time we went into a country looking for somebody. Afghanistan was blown to hell and we still can't find Osama Binladen.

bush is a d*ck(let's call it a less nice person), he bombs iraq to find saddam. he kills innocent people to get that dude. that is just so sad. why bomb all those people, and not just find him with ground troops and snipers;(

See its post like that which make the protestors look bad. First unecessary name calling. Than posing a new idea whih would be ineffective leaving possibilities for what Bush is doing as effective.

If we were to go in there with ground troops and snipers it will be easy as a b c 1 2 3 for Saddam to escape just like bin Laden. We still havent found that poor ******* yet have we? Thats the point of killing him now. thats why the US tried to trick Iraq with the 48 BS when we only really gave him 24 hours and took the best shot we could then, and failed.

Im for the war...sure i don't like people dieing...and i don't think wasting money on big bombs will help... but i think sadom is a bad person. and the world would be better without him.

I think Bush is going about this all the wrong way. He told Saddam he had 48 hours to leave, or he will come in. He knew this was a win/win situation. Saddam has nothing to lose, he's a murderer, know's his people hate him.

In fact, I bet Bush knew Saddam wouldn't leave, because Saddam won't back down, he's not a coward, and he's gonna fight this thing to the end.

That is why I think Bush is doing this the wrong way, he tries to look like a good guy by giving Saddam a 48 hour grace period, hell, he could have given him a year, and Saddam would still be there. Some good guy, he just manipulated the system.

You dont mean it but you are. All Americans arent ignorant. Just like all Canadians arent ignorant. But I'm sure you will find nearly the same percent of Canadians that dont know where US and Mexico are and dont know the story of the Middle East.

All our media isnt right wing. Its just that right wing media sells so there are more of them than left wing.

Morrone is right. We r all ignorent when it comes to war otherwise we wouldn't be fighting this war.

Exactly, you see we are our own weapon of mass destruction. Our creator gave us the one thing that seperates us from all other life, an open mind. This gift that makes us different than all other life forms is what is and will continue to destory us until it is all over.

You see the human race is much like saiyans in DBZ. You couldnt imagine the comparisons. We side with our blood and journey to other lands spreading our blood. We want the world to be only of our own brothers who think what we think and agree to what we agree. So we take all of our effort and put it into ensuring our blood's survival. We fight for land and food and resources in which our blood needs to survive, just as the saiyans did for planets.

Not only that but we have our stubborn pride. Insults are taken as pyscological assaults on our blood. The story of Vegeta us much like the story of Germany throughout the late 1800s up until today. prior to WW1 working its way up to be the best. Than to be slaughtered by a bunch of inferiors. Then when possessed by a dark power, the nazis, just as when Vegeta was possessed by babadi they felt the erge to take back what had been stolen from them. To take back their pride. They thought with their new found powers they could overcome their enemies, just as Vegeta did Goku, and when it was all said and done they later learned they could never be the best. That the allied forces would always stand in their way. They expected it.

That is just one of the many cases. Just like the war of 1812 when the British tried to take back theirs. theirs that they lost so disgracefully.

We are too proud. We are oto smart. The idle mind is the devil's workshop. As we evolve we get more intelligent. The more intelligent the idler we become and the more reason we need to do evil biddings.

Fighting over religion is one of these sad twists of fate. Religion is suppose to be there to keep peace and harmony inside your soul. It is not suppose to be something you debate about and prosecute others for. Its for peace with ones soul and all it has accomplished is the most killing of people in the world. Palestine is a perfect example.

Today's world is too cruel. If your blood does not kill or exploit other blood it will be killed or exploited. The truly good are all martyrs apon themselves because being good is a weakness.

This is totally proven in the youth today. Being good is bad. Getting high, breaking the law, and killing others while doing it is the norm. Its the only way you can be accepted. Any other way and you are screwed.

I could ramble on for hours but its all fruitless. I once imagined if I was the president of a powerful coutnry such as America, how would I accomplish world peace. I would spend, and still sometimes do, hours thinking about how someone would go about such a thing. Nuclear weapons will surely be are end. America has nukes only to discourage war, it would never dare use them. Japan was an exception because only America had themm, but I assure you when the next nuke drops it will be the end of the world as we know it. How do we rid people of nuclear weapons? Its like a terrorist holding a woman hostage with a gun to her head. you can try to as kindly as possible get all of the dangerous countries to rid themselves of their nukes but nothing would work. Every possible scenario I can think fo would never work.

We are ont he verge of destruction. Just like that movie on the internet.

In a nut shell we have set ourselves up with the bomb. We are on our own verge to the destruction we have caused. We can only make our time. All of our home are belonged to the next form of intelligent life that take habitance on this planet. Lets just hope theres a planet left for them to do so, and that they arent anywhere near as intelligent as us.

Not all war is fruitless. Some wars have true cause. But the center of every war is hollow.
