New Particle Graphics System?

I'm a little shady on this.

I know they are remaking the whole graphics system, but what exactly are they doing.

Are we going to be able to customize all the graphics to our utmost desire :_

If so, i think it would be cool to be able to save your settings into a configuration file, so you could upload them for others to download.

And i hope the 1.3 replaces/overwrites all stanrd/custom models and sprites.

You can see the player models in the gallery, they're replaced.

As for the sprites, RavenBlade was supposed to be redoing them in a new style (so Warren tells me) but he's been missing for many...months.

I mean like, for people who have downloaded custom models and custom sprites, i hope they are all replaced/overwritten for 1.3

Does anyone know exactly what they will be adding to the graphics? In terms of beam animations or the lighting or auras?
