on milkshape 3d how do u find out how many polygons youre model is

go to the tool bar, click on tools, then go show model statistics

or select all the faces on your model, go on tools/selpolycount and voila! polycount as some versions dont have the model statistic selection, like mine ;O

Why you guys gotta lie to him? That wont work, you gotta look in 3d view, in flat shaded with wireframe overlay. Then count one by one. Thats the only way to do it.
