Einstein was right again. There is a space-time vortex around Earth, and its shape precisely matches the predictions of Einstein's theory of gravity.
Researchers confirmed these points at a press conference today at NASA headquarters where they announced the long-awaited results of Gravity Probe B (GP-B).
"The space-time around Earth appears to be distorted just as general relativity predicts," says Stanford University physicist Francis Everitt, principal investigator of the Gravity Probe B mission.

Einstein proves his genius once again. That guy was so far ahead of his time.

That really is awesome to know that einstein discovered things that our leading scientists of today have only yet discovered, even though indirectly.

It's true that it proves general relativity is right but we still don't know much about gravity and other forces.

Nah. This only proves that the theory stands firm for solar bodies. We still know to little of how they react past the barrier of our knowledge.

There can be a point after which the entire thing turns upside down.

But good to know that scientists can now prove Einstein right.

More accurately, Einstein showed that the math behind it was sound but lacked the means to measure it.

Really makes you amazed, I mean everyone talks about how much of a genius he was, but...it's really astounding this many years later for him to still be proven right, even about ideas he thought were wrong. :p

Now i'm not very good at physics but since there's a space-time vortex surrounding the Earth(made by it's own mass/gravity in the space-time fabric) that would mean that time "flows" at a different speed compared to let's say interplanetary space, right?
Just a curiosity. :)

Yes, exactly, things orbiting the Earth flow in a different time than ours, which is why stuff we have up there has to be constantly adjusted to compensate.

While I share your believes that he was indeed a great mind, this does tend to be the way it goes.
in a few decades, we'll say the same about hawking. While this doesn't make him any less of a genius, he also had a few theories that were incorrect.

Standing on the shoulders of giants indeed. This is a great leap forward in understanding, and quite the hurdle for anyone who wants to prove Einstein wrong.
