huh? your comparing the goal of saving the world to naruto having personal goal to be hokage? doesnt make sense, lets look at it this way. Goku's first personal goal, is to get stronger enough to beat anyone, DB, and trains under master roshi, he then goes on to a goal to train hard to beat all his enimies and he wants his son to become the next saviour of earth, not to mention his other goals inbetween. Vegeta first want the dragonballs and the earth, then he wants to get stronger than goku, he's always wanted to be stronger than frieza to avenge his fathers/people's death (like sasuke? maybe) he then wants to live a happy life with his children at the end of dbz, as he admits goku is the best. Gohan, first he's scared and he wants to protect his father, then he has a goal to prepare for the saiyans, then his goal is to fight for the dragonballs so he can get piccolo back and yamcha and the others, he then wants to train for the androids and he doesnt want to let his friends down, he then wants to be educated, he also wants to help people of the city, he then wants to get stronger for buu. ETC ETC....... dude they have goals too, all of the characters do, (even bulma, she wanted a bf at the start of db) you see you just dont notice this stuff cuz its old news, naruto is new and different, i havent really seen many re-runs...... its new and so the experience is more exciting because there is more to come if you knew exactly what was going to happen you wouldnt be so enthused about naruto.... Its not comparable, its nowhere near as complex as dbz, there are over 800 fights in dbz (if i remember right) how could a few of them not be about being the most powerful? its just people dont realise its the same as naruto, evrytime naruto is in desperate need he kicks ass, just like goku, and he has his friends that help him as well, face it, its the same format, but with different characters and character storylines, what it comes down to is the underdog becoming the best, by means of learning and gaining new techniques and powers. Just look at the chuunin exam, it is clearly a time where the underdogs surface, with their new powers, and try to beat an enemy whom is at a higher level. They have their teachers, rivals, enemies, competators, leaders, everything can be compared, dbz is diverse its just it has been tarnished for being simple, but its just the plot is so drawn out you dont realise the changes as much. I for one love manga/comics, and i know that a lot of people dont like me talking about the original context of dbz, but i think it is perfectly relevant to compare, if you ever have read it you soon see it doesnt treat you like your an infant, and you dont have to be told whats going on 5 times, and i enjoy the manga of the series rather than the anime, its because i have a very active imagination and i get enthrawled in the story. Where as the constant be-littling and annoying pauses/side stories, piss me off and it gets on my nerves. I dont know ive babbled quite a lot, but im gonna end with this, dont underestimate dbz it deserves more credit than its given, and yup naruto is exciting but its new and unseen, and so is unique for now, but in 10 years time will you still like it as much?
