Naruto vs DBZ

IMO, Naruto pwnz the plot repetitive DBZ. The character development is more rewarding and makes you earn for each character's success and failure. The special moves are complicated, but give you a sense of actual realism. Though, when was the last time you seen a ninja torch an entire roof?

Well I haven't seen Naruto, but I sure do know that the dbz fights are cool, the only fight I have ever really hated is any time that Gotenks fights, he's just annoying, all of the other fights were cool.

As for the poll, you guys can think Naruto is way better than Dbz but just remember, this is opinionated. =D

Yeah after i had seen all dragonball Z eps i thought it couldn't get any better then i saw GT wich sucked but then a friend of mine got me to watch Naruto and i watched 5 eps i though wtf is this serie its so cool then the next week i had a vacation and i watched all episodes that were out in that point , later i also read all the manga's and and now i watch a new episode every weak and a new manga aswell and i must say DBZ was good but Naruto tops it in any possible way

heh, i dont like to compare them, i dont know why but evry1 seems to put down dbz, imo dbz is better merely because it was one of the most original series ever, and was some of the inspiration behind Naruto, everyone shouts from the roof tops that naruto is better, well 5 years after naruto has finished and they've dubbed all the voices, and had lots of rip off parodies, totally change the target age audience, not to mention half the script, i think you'll see how equal dbz and naruto is. Which ever you prefer is all down to personal preference, however, if you had never heard of dbz before, and you watched the japanese episodes, and then compared it to naruto, i think you would be less baised and insulting toward dbz. Dont get me wrong though, i love naruto, but im sure the enthusiasm will wear off after the series has finished ands it is deystroyed by capitalising animation companies.

Let's be honest, David. The only real difference between the Japanese version of DBZ and the dub, are more accurate translations of swearing, calling "Hercule" Mr. Satan, and the change from "Root Beer" to "Beer."

The later seasons dubbing by Funimation really wasn't changed that dramatically.

The first season I would accept an argument, because so much was cut and changed. But not the Frieza saga, Cell saga or Buu saga.

Comparing Japanese Naruto to Japanese DBZ is not even a real comparison.

Naruto blows away DBZ far and away. Whether or not DBZ set 'standards' in anime is besides the point. This poll compares the two, and quite frankly--Naruto wins.

lemme put it like this, would naruto be better or worse 5 years after its finished, youve seen it all, heard it all, and in an cut up american dub? I know for sure i wont be as interested.

and btw, there still is a lot of cutting throughout the entire dbz, i read a site once, which listed almost all the episodes telling you what had been changed, and it gave screens as well..... I luv the jap eps of dbz, i dont like the US version, and i love the manga the most, and thats what it comes down to. Im saying, naruto is new (While shows are new, they usually are more captivating) and there is only manga and japanese episodes, hence why imo, it will be "better". i have friends who hate the dbz series but love the movies cuz there isnt as much farting about and nothing is cut. Gone with the wind was probably huge in its day, but i bet you wouldnt be enthused going to watch it right now, I just dont think you realise that because its new and inventive, that this is just a fad, where as dbz has been successful for 19 years, and all over the world. Naruto may be, but imo its just another series and when it gets to dbz status people will slag it off like right here, i dunno, it seems unfair to comare them.

Once again, you have utterly failed to see the point.
This is not comparing the dub of DBZ with the subtitled Naruto.
This is the real version of Naruto being compared with the real version of DBZ.

Please stop assuming everybody is comparing DBZ's dub to Naruto's subs. Naturally the subs would be better. And in any case--The manga of DBZ is not exactly "The Best."

Animes based on fighting are worst suited for manga, because people are interested in the fights and what happens.

A story with mostly talking can be portrayed in both manga and anime, well. A story revolving around punches flying and people being vaporized isn't as accurately portrayed in manga.

Your exactly right David, it is kind of early to compare Naruto to DBZ. But Naruto has already created the buzz that DBZ did in the early 90s. So, (in my further opinion) Naruto will eventually have the same nostalgia.

I would like to take time to give DBZ it's due respect...

Face it the plot grabs you, gives you that tingly feeling, and makes you wish you could fly and shoot kamehamehas XD The power up scenes and powerful moves is what made the series. Gohan vs Cell is a classic fight, as well as any time Vegeta and Goku went at it (can't forget goku vs frieza). This mod basically praises DBZ and anyone can easily see this.

In the end though (so far) Naruto seems like an improvement on the basic power struggle system (who could out fight who) with any anime (i.e dbz, yu yu hakusho, etc etc) that has come along in awhile.

The plot in Naruto goes far deeper than DBZ. Vegeta in my opinion, is the best character in DBZ, becuase of his unique personality, but not every character gets explained very well, you don't get much of a bio through the episodes. In Naruto, You pretty much learn about everyones personality, but not only that, you learn of what happened in the past, what kinds of struggles they've been through and what their beleifs are. You learn little of this in DBZ, and it's just not done well. DBZ is mainly an action cartoon, it's meant for flashy fight scenes and jaw dropping animation. Naruto is that AND a bag of chips.

Well I personally love Naruto, I think that it is an incredible show with a good plot and good cartooning. But when I think back into the days when I first started watching DBZ...I was so rediculously sucked into the show that I even tried doing some of the **** in the show (I know its retarded). So to be honest with you, I think I was more into DBZ at my height of interest in it than I am in Naruto. But for all purposes...Naruto = teh pwn. The plot they are developing so far is a bit more detailed, although I can see where they might leave plot holes in the future. But only time will tell...
