What, in your oppinion, is a Must Watch Anime? I would like to know so I can begin to collect the episodes or movies and watch them when I have the time.

I've seen all of DB/DBZ/GT and the movies. I've seen Cowboy Bebop + Movie, Samurai Champloo, Wolf's Reign, Witch Hunter Robin, FLCL and Full Metal Alchemist but not the movie.

I have to say Neon Genesis Evangelion(along with the movie End of Evangelion), it was probably one of the first animes i ever watched, and i count it as "must watch" for all anime watchers. If someone hasnt watched it yet and calls himself a Anime Otaku, i'll have them think again.

But if you have watched it already, i'll think of something else.

I'd say full Metal Alchemist + the movie Conqueror of Shamballa.
Then Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop.
And I don't know how many consider it a must watch, but I really enjoyed watching Fate/stay Night.

I havent watched those, Jari....

lol I dont call myself an otaku though...

At KB17.... Hellsing ftw. And maybe some others which havent seen the changes that are displayed in their current counterparts: Ranma 1/2, for instance. I used to loathe it, but really, it shows just what anime was. As opposed to what it is right now.
And Dragonball if you have just watched DBZ and think it shares the same repitative storyline.
Naruto and Bleach, yeah. But not as muchas I once used to think.
One Piece is good.
So is Fruits Basket,.

EDIT: Yeah watch FMA + the movie. DONT SKIP THE MOVIE!!!! Or you will be disappointed with its ending.

And also Get Backers and the Hellsing OVA

Ranma and Fruits Basket aren't your average fight and thensome kind of anime though.

Shame on you! o_O
Who wouldn't like giant humanoid creatures that are controlled by mentally unstable 14-year old kids.

I dont know about Ranma, but Fruits Basket falls in the category of Shoujo, which means its a anime aimed towards female watchers. You can almost always recognize Shoujo animes with the amount of Bishounen(pretty boys) in them.
Ranma is your typical shounen, comedy, school, fighting, ecchi anime for all watchers.

Death note is pretty good, it just finished and I have to say it's one of my favorites.

Also Hajime no Ippo(Boxing anime) and Eyeshield 21(American football anime) are good to watch if your into sport.

Naruto. Period.

@Jariroth: key words "MENTALLY" and "UNSTABLE" are exactly my reasons not to watch that thing ever again. The ending was just... UGH! :p

Have you even watched the End of Evangelion? Besides if you watch it when youre younger you cant understand the greatness of the series. It's all about character development, rather than just going through your normal beat-the-bad-guy scheme thats almost in every other anime.
Altough everyone is entitled to their own opinion...

I only have one must-see, and i really have to agree with Jariroth.

Evangelion is one of the best anime series' too, too bad it's so short.

...And also One piece, i mean, what can beat pirates and anime combined ?

Naruto isn't exactly an all-rounder anime; most of the story is overthought, unoriginal elements, due to the over-attempt at being "unique", and many of its characters and their pasts are minor variations of eachother; in fact most of the characters are in some way minor variations of eachother, and those from Dragonball Z - it's hard to enjoy the show for what it is, because you know it could've been executed so much better. The anime series also has the Dragonball syndrome, causing an almost 200 episode-count of meaningless filler. If I were to suggest anything to you KidBoy, it wouldn't be Naruto. Naruto, is typically, an anime that was designed to attract emotionally neglected children, traumatized, suicidal, bisexual, homosexual, bi-curious, homicidal, and distraught individuals--most people who obsess over it can relate their feelings to the cartoon and its characters.

The problem with Masashi is he's picked up on so many successful artists, and just used their ideas; most artists don't recognize him for his original ideas, but instead as a desperate artist who was obsessed with Japan's Anime Godfather, Akira Toriyama--and would do anything to receive the same recognition--he borrowed other artists' styles, and made his own "masterpiece", rehashing many, many ideas, and barely bringing them into a new light that can be refreshing, yet as well original. While the anime may have some original elements, they're still ones brought forth before, and only introduced in a more attractive fashion with Naruto. One reason? Likeness to Toriyama's style and characters. Another reason? Kids love Ninjas. And another? 50%+ of America's youth is "emo", or as they say.

Just a heads up to people; Japan isn't harnessing Naruto as their leader in Japanese entertainment. Typically, in these days, most Japanese people are not hyped by things like this. Dragonball created a massive hype 18 years ago, which spread into the United States--and there's talks of a resurgence in Japan. Naruto's current, and something fresh for the newer generation of children - and it's overshadowing Dragonball in these days.

Naruto is generally just over-hyped.

Anime I'd recommend:

Inu-Yasha (Inuyasha)
This can be an anime for everyone, however it can also be known to have the Dragonball syndrome. Adult Swim is airing this series, and has been for longer than a year. The series contains very original elements; personally, I thought they could've been delivered better, but nothing's perfect.

Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO)
Great series; think of Cowboy Bebop but with more comic relief, and less action.

YuYu Hakusho

Kidboy - if you enjoyed Dragonball, you'd like this.

Bleach
If you enjoy YuYu Hakusho, you'll enjoy this.

Outlaw Star
Old. But classic. Why haven't you seen this yet?

Anime I wouldn't recommend:

One Piece (The dub, at least)

Pokemon (I wouldn't expect you to watch a toddler's cartoon, anyway)

Naruto (Simply for the fact of filler)

If anyone suggests crap titles such as Elfen Lied, or Basilisk, I'm gonna laugh my ass off.

The entire Gundam Universal Century series and of course Mobile Fighter G-Gundam.
Macross
Martian Successor Nadesico
Also take into consideration I'm a huge anime mecha fan so if your not into anime mecha these titles won't be interesting to you but if you are then these are all a must to watch!

Also Desert Punk because I OWN THIS DESERT *****ES!
Right now I started watching Busou Renkin its not too bad so far and can't wait to try out the game for the ps2.

Where in the world did you come up with that?

Animes I recommend:

A****a No Joe (Tomorrow's Joe)
Hajime No Ippo (Fighting Spirit)
Eyeshield 21
Hokuto No Ken (Fist of the North Star)

Edit

The first one was censored - The censored word is A-s-h-i-t-a.

I M the only one who loves Yu-Gi-Oh!
If that was a question... then yes. Yu-Gi-oh! falls under a class of anime that are too heavily marketed by toys and cards and stuff. Same as Pokemon. However, while Pokemon made the wagon, the rest, such as Bey Blade and Yu-Gi-OH! just jumped onto it without much ado.

Pokemon is good, but it tires one after the orange league.
The first season is the most watchable one seeing as it followed the manga storyline till then. I'd rather you read the manga of Pokemon than watching the anime. however, Pokemon has some decent dubs should you be so lucky as to find them all. As the phrase goes: gotta catch 'em all!

And @ Vegeta... No offense Dude, you talk way too deeply about Naruto, almost as if the series effected your life in an evil way or something.

@Jari. Yeah fruits Basket is mostly for girls. I wouldnt even have watched it if my sister didnt get all the episodes. Had nothing else to watch at first but then it was a little amusing. But Ranma is not all bad. Grows on you I suppose.

What ever you pick up, Kidboy, Dont ever look at or try Full Metal Panic. All it shares with FMA is the first two words. Other than that, its pure crap.
