I think the first Evil Dead was trying to be serious...

Any movie by Stanley Kubrick is always awesome. Minus the most recent A.I. but I blame Steven Spielberg for that one.

Great Comedies:
The Big Lebowski
This is Spinal Tap

And don't forget the LotR trilogy. Although the third isnt out yet, the first two have been awesome.

Shawshank Redemption: Both serious and really funny at times, one of the best movies I've seen in my life.

Schindler's List: Really serious and pretty sad, especially when you consider that the whole thing really happened. But it's the best World War 2 Period film I've ever seen even without any actual battles.

Has anyone seen American History X? It can be a bit graphic at times, but it is a great movie... The ending WILL piss you off though...

Is that were Russia take over America or sumin, anyway I like black hawk down because I fast forworded the talking bit:laff: and then it's just a big battle with helicopters. But like the other people the Matrixis the best (I got it on dvd). Can't wait for the new one aswell.

No, American History X is about a boy named Danny and his family.

Danny's family are neo-nazi skinheads or white supremacists. In the beginning, Danny's brother kills an african american man and gets sent to prison for it. In prison, Danny's brother learns that all his hate towards other races is terrible and needs to be stopped. So after he gets out, he tries to teach Danny and all of their family friends the error of their ways...

It's a hard movie with a good message, but it does have it's violent parts...
