I'd just stick to private servers.
Instead of giving so much money for WoW each month... I'd collect it and buy myself a new video card.

Yeah, and I bet you bought World of Warcraft from a retailer, too?

Besides, you really can't experience WoW they way it was intended if you play on a private server with 50 people. On the server I play alone there are just over 27,000 different characters.

With 85% of them being Chinese people just grinding characters to sell for money.

I still maintain that if you play WoW, the terrorists win.

So that accounts for almost 20,000 people on my server?

I think you should try it, Sicron. I've played WoW since its release and I ran into MAYBE, 10-15 'bots'. Almost all of them near the release of the game. I can honestly say I haven't seen a bot / farmer for at least a year.
Regardless of anyone's stance on Blizzard, you can't ignore that they do a genuinely good job of keeping their servers clean.

I have tried it, and I won't say I didn't have fun playing the game. Still can't justify paying 15 bucks a month for it though, I didn't have THAT much fun with it. And IMO, Guild Wars is a much better bang-for-the-buck game. Hell, you can get all 3 games + expansion pack for like...30 dollars these days. That's 30 dollars for more than a couple thousand hours of gameplay right there.

Well, I don't mind paying as long as the service provided is of a decent quality, and I can honestly say I've had no problems with Blizzard or the services they provide.

I understand some people not wanting to pay a monthly fee, and I respect that, but World of Warcraft is still an exceptional game.

Guild Wars rocks, WoW rocks, both games rock. More getting sub to play wow with me. I have to force him to like it.

You can condition him by showing him a picture of a hot chick every time you say the word "WoW".

The subscription fee and the fact it's an MMO really steer me away from WoW. There's nothing wrong with enjoying it though, just don't become the 40 year-old who lives in his parents' basement.

We seriously need an action FPS/TPS MMO with RPG elements such as leveling up and skills with a normal subscription fee. Like 1$ a month

If it is still the same as a couple of years ago then; no subscription fee. Game works with a system of ingame money you can earn and then cash in for real money. Also works vice versa, so you can use your credit card to obtain ingame money. Some people actually earn their money with the game, while other people buy islands for 10,000 dollars.

What do you do in this game? Can I hunt people down and sell them as slaves?

Guild Wars, is and always has been a PvP oriented game, the guy's who made it were originally employed by Blizzard to work on WoW's PvP (which is why early WoW-PvP was terribad). GW isn't a bad game, but it serves a niche, people who like to kill other players. If what you're after in an MMO is PvE content, as well as a rich history and loads of content against NPC's, then you really can't look past WoW, furthermore, the success of Blizzard and specifically WoW is because WoW is a predominantly PvE game, something like 80%+ of the subscribers are in it for the PvE content. GW isn't going away anytime soon, but it will never grow to the size and popularity of WoW simply because it targets a smaller market.

If you're anti-WoW or anti-Blizzard and you're looking for a good MMO, wait around for Bioware's Star Wars: Old Republic, it has the potential to de-throne WoW at it's own game.

And yes, I know all of this has absolutely nothing with the subject, just my $0.02

Are those Australian dollars, Rocky?

Your answer would help me put a price tag on your thoughts.
