OubliezJe: Yeah i know how much a well cared for WW2 or pre WW2 antique would sell for, and i'm well aware that this isn't one. Also mine isn't even a folded steel blade, it's only a straightforward carbonsteel forging, i've read an interesting photographed article on how swords are forged though, very interesting. "And reguarding any futher smart A** remarks, your welcome for the little lesson" > Sorry to tell you this but i already knew, and you need to research a little more i think. My sword is mass produced, i know that, but i wasnt looking for an antique.[/qoute]

When i said, "And reguarding any futher smart A** remarks, your welcome for the little lesson" I wasnt directing it towards you, i was directing it towards someone who would reply like this, "Ya well thank you for the lesson Ien Stien, but thats not what we needed."

mmm I donno. I don't think I'd mind living in those times. The greatest death durring a battle is to die with honor and by the sword. Yea, I wouldn't mind that at all. It'd be better than getting a bullet lodged in my brain. :p
Oh please. When somebody rams one into your gut and you're slowly bleeding to death, you're going to be -begging- you get a bullet put into your brain.

People have all these damn romantic notions... just ask any vet for the truth: war sucks. And it's not because of guns; it's pretty much always sucked. When your entrails are falling out from an axe to the abdomen or something, you're not going to weakly smile as blood trickles down your throat and thank the gods for such a glorious death in battle. You'll be screaming as you hurl up blood and then somebody steps on your head as they run by.

OubliezJe: a simple misunderstanding then :)

X: That's not any old rag, it's the special bag the katana came wrapped up in. It features in the pics on my website too, it's like... totally famous ;p

It's not a toy, it's a tool.
I would have to disagree. A Sword is what you make of it. For me, a Sword isn't a tool, it's an extension of the Warrior who wields it. It is not something sacred, and shouldn't be retrieved at danger to the Warrior's life, however. A Sword is an extension, but it is not the Warrior, and it can be replaced as needed.

Although, if you consider it a tool, that's alright. But it's not just one thing, it's what YOU the wielder makes of it.

Good hanging job. Death to any ninja who thinks they can now surprise you whilst you use the computer!! :p

That just made me laugh out loud... its true.

Some people have seen the movie "the last samurai" to much, and they think its full of honour to die slowly.... lol...

Take a knive and put it in your feet.... then see how "honourfull" that is. :p

Emhilradim, XD

Website is here, just a few pictures. I only made it because it was easier to give a link to the site on a bunch of forums rather than writing all the img tags again.
http://www.geocities.com/tda_3d//tdapfk.html (note the sig V)

It's actually not as sharp as i thought it was, but the weight that's behind it means it dosent really matter. I can run my finger down the blade quite gingerly without it cutting, but the tip is very very pointy. If i did it fast or with any kind of pressure though, it'd cut me. It's not "razor sharp" but it's sharp enough.

I've never seen "The Last Samurai". You all may think that way about it, but come on...People think differently now a days. From every History book I've read and other books about it. Thats how they thought back then.

I didn't add it in there but yea I also think its an extension of one self. I just see it as a tool as well. If I felt like writing it all out I'd pick apart that last statement you made but I won't cause I'm alittle lazy at typeing right now. :p

I wouldn't mind dying in combat, sword combat, gun combat, whatever. I know how painful it would be, but hell, if I'm gonna die I might aswell feel the worst pain life has to offer before I do so, you only get one chance. I wouldn't mind the adrenaline filled excitement of a battle either, a bit more interesting than dying peacefully in your sleep in my opinion. I can understand why people would think differently, but I think is one of those "whatever floats your boat" situations.

Anyway, back on topic, I have about 5 swords, not that quality, and not all Katana, but I might try and get some pics up later.

Its easy for us to say we would act a certain way in battle, but the truth is that a real battle to the death would drive most of us sheltered people insane, so please people, dont try to say living in those days would be cool in any sense. "Oh yes, living to die for a greedy lord would be awsome!!!! How honorable it is that somebody else decides when we die!!!" It wasnt like Kenshin....... Any ways, i got sword pics! But does anybody have a free host? Mine sucks apparently.
