Like someone said before, it serves as an incentive to upgrade--and most people, I'd imagine do plan on upgrading at some point, considering that at some point, games will no longer be made for XP.frsrblch said:What a load of BS. They think Halo 2 on Vista only is going to sell that crap? What a joke. I hope they get a rude awakening when nobody buys it, I know I sure as hell wont.
No, I'm afraid the largest and most successful software company in the history of mankind is not "full of idiots." And you say you have "TONS of friends," but considering Halo 2 is the best selling X-Box game in the console's history, it's pretty safe to say more people prefered Halo 2.Chang Wufei said:halo 2 wasnt even that great..why bother upgrading just to play it?...i have TONS of friends who say they perffer halo 1>halo 2...so why bother?...microsoft is full of idiots..
Well, nobody is 'forcing' you to do anything. In any case, Vista only requires a decent (by today's standards) video card if you plan on running the highest quality, graphically 'intense' mode, with everything turned on. But yes, the need for better video cards in order to run Microsoft's next O.S. will help the gaming industry. I think so, anyway.Zeonix said:Yes, Logan. Enjoy getting Vista through the use of pirate ships. I, for one, will be avoiding Vista for at least 6 months before I attempt anything. I'm staying away from first edition os's because they're usually very buggy, and I like to give our friends a chance to scope out the town and give us proper intel before we attack and loot and plunder. No raping will be involved, mind you.
Anyway, so Vista is forcing people to spend a hell of a lot money to buy better video cards which in turn helps the pc gaming industry since it kicks the lowest denominator up by a few notches. Again, we're spending tons of money because Vista is forcing us to. Am I understanding you correctly, Alea?
Then they just don't buy Vista.Cap J said:Won't help the people who aren't gamers though.
Are you kidding? There is absolutly no reason that they cannot have the game compatible with XP also. I don't care what they add to Halo 2 that make it have some sort of superior element, it is within their power to get it to work with XP. They are doing it for the sole purpose of getting people to buy Vista, hence the "Microsoft is greedy" coments.SaiyanPrideXIX said:I love how people think one of the richest corporations in human history is "greedy." For all you know they are doing this because the PC version of Halo 2 is going to have some sort of superior elements added to it...
In any event this happens with all the new Windows, so sing a different song already. Once Vista has been out for 3-6 months, virtually every new computer you buy will have Vista on it, so this is all a moot point considering you all will be getting new computers some day.
As far as I'm concerned it SHOULD be this way. If you can't afford the hardware or other major portions of this hobby you shouldn't be involved in it. Too many games have been utterly ruined (ESF chief among them) by forcing a need to cater to the lowest common denominator. And also by being populated by cheap and trite spoiled brats who don't know that yes, you aren't actually entitled to get everything you want for free in life. The more it costs the happier I am; it keeps the things that ruin multiplayer video games out and that makes me plenty happy.
I doubt Microsoft are expecting people to buy Vista solely to play Halo 2, a game thats been out for ages, and is starting to look dated by modern day standards. I'm confident the public will be all over Vista like they were with XP, and the fact that Halo 2 is being designed for it is a bonus, as it'll have DX10 and support for higher resolutions.Sub said:They are doing it for the sole purpose of getting people to buy Vista, hence the "Microsoft is greedy" coments.
Or the 360, in my case (once I get a 360 that is)Ravendust said:I doubt Microsoft are expecting people to buy Vista solely to play Halo 2, a game thats been out for ages, and is starting to look dated by modern day standards. To be honest, if you really care this much about Halo 2, you'd have bought it for the Xbox by now.
