Oh please ban hammers are so 19th century.

This forum has BanSabers

The validation thing is partly the hosts idea. And we cant really say no to that.
The system itself is fine and is a great idea. The issue is how it's being enforced and how others are being treated because of it. Let me remind you of the phase voting thread where people wanted unvalidated users opinions to not count, or how people get their panties in a twist when they're being helped when asked for support. :p

Yeah I don't get the whole discrimination thing. People jumping around saying stuff " you are not validated" , " I m x years here, you just joined the community" "your opinion doesnt count" etc.

Seriously calm the **** down people!

You say discrimination as if it were a bad thing.

If a person can't be bothered to purchase HL to play ESF, why should anyone waste their time helping them? Why should their opinion on the game matter, when the the only contribution they've made is an ultimatum in the form of a thread? And when people who have been around for a couple of weeks come in and demand the game be released immediately or the Four Horsemen will ride through the streets, why should we take them seriously when we've been waiting for more than a decade? What is it that gives their opinions the same weight as ours when it was we, and not they, that has kept this community alive? Please. Discrimination is warranted.

Those who would arrive out of the blue and demand 1.3 are children with a sense of entitlement, each of whom would prefer instant gratification over a polished and complete product. I've waited this long for the real deal; not a "Here, please stop yelling at me" version of a game that will inevitably push the release of the final version further to the right. If you find yourself wishing for something, anything at all, then perhaps you should distance yourself from the community for a bit as you're clearly too close to the flame to make out the features in the dark.

Coming together as a community is one thing. Rolling over in the hopes that the new guys will stick around is something entirely different. It was arguably the game's desperation to appeal to a new audience that has driven the community and the game to the brink. Perhaps its time to cater to those who have been silently loyal over the years.

Want to save this community? Want to see it grow, and thrive once more? I offer you a single option. A choice that requires no thought, no discussion. A final solution of such brilliance, that one might question why it has yet to pass.

Ban Skyrider and make Sub admin.

An easy choice. An obvious choice. The only right choice.

So, some of you may know who I am and I still lurk the forum for quite some time peeking my head in and out and I will say this.

This is coming from a completely unbiased opinion since I havent chatted with anyone really for years here.

Damaera has just about nailed everything on the head. wheather he is being hypocritical or not and the censorness is irrelivant. If you want I could just copy and paste his post to nullify that. But over the years I have honestly seen a big change in attitude and how things are handled. On that note, heres the "second opinion".

Everyone hates each other
I seen quite a bit of bickering over the most trivial things in the forum like everyone has to be better than eachother.

People don't respect the rules/Rules aren't being enforced
Rules being broken and locked threads is pretty much the only "action taken" I usually see. Grega is mostly the only one I see say anything about anything. Not that others aren't but Grega is the most frequent one. Also, what happened to moderators giving the old fashioned :warning:'s?

The thing where people freak out and complain when people complain about ESF
I usually see a different amount of people remind these guy that they were here waiting longer than them and that they are insignificant for it. Now there isn't much to explain why esf is taking so long, or lack of updates, ect. But doing this would clear up the clutter of e-penis I see being flopped around.

This witch hunt against unvalidated users needs to stop.
The validation thing I find completely unnecessary. It's not a game modification's job to prevent piracy, and I have yet to see another mod of a game do this. I am not validated, but that doesn't mean I pirate the game either. This isn't the only issue with it either. like damaea said, even if someone wants help with simply changing a model or help with an amxx addon they get shot down and the ones who help get "scolded" aswell.

These are things that can't be denied, so why defend it?

...people freak out and complain when people complain...

This witch hunt against unvalidated users...
Honestly I really don't see why these things even need to be pointed out. Literally and I don't believe I'm exaggerating here, literally every forum out there for just about anything, that still has a active/somewhat active community, has these problems, if you can even call them that, I mean they appear so often that you can just as well call them a trait of an internet forum, or insert them in the definition of an internet forum, I dunno call it: "A place on the internet where people gather to bicker about everything and where everyone thinks they are right."

We all have these moments when we suffer these symptoms of a let's call it "forum sickness" or "internet-forumitis". Symptoms include: The Subjects become sanctimonious, aggressive and very defensive of their ideas at the same time extremely sensitive, like a bomb that waits to explode once you push the wrong button, hateful towards those who disapproves those ideas, and probably some other symptoms that I missed. Even when one thinks he is better than all those things mentioned and unmentioned, there will be something that will just prove him wrong.

I honestly hope this hasn't been posted in some hope that such things may somehow be solved because they cannot, I repeat cannot be solved. I'll even take the liberty to analyze each of the problems pointed out.

Everyone hates each other: Happens everywhere and it depends on the human nature itself therefore it cannot be cured. Status: Pandemic disease. Cure: None(Unless you count purging every single member on a forum)

People don't respect the rules/Rules aren't being enforced: Happens everywhere, there will always be people like these who break the rules, as for the enforcement problems, well even if the law is being properly enforced the problem will still persist no matter what. Also if laws are enforced too strictly the result is a barren and boring lackluster forum. Status: Pandemic disease. Cure: Partial, must be administered very carefully and as regularly as possible if need be.

...people freak out and complain when people complain...: Happens everywhere and it depends on the human nature itself therefore it cannot be cured. Status: Pandemic disease.
Cure: None(Unless you count purging every single member on a forum)

This witch hunt against unvalidated users...: Happens occasionally and it comes in many shapes and forms, it also depends mostly on human nature. Status: Similar to a seasonal disease it appears on certain occasions, or for certain reasons, but unlike one it can last indefinitely. Cure: Varies from disease to disease. It could be cured if the cause of the disease would somehow be changed or removed.

All these small diseases form the big one "internet-forumitis". Now I may know nothing about how a real disease really works but I know for sure, having been on plenty of other forums that this is exactly the way this particular disease works on every single one of them.

Now look there are actually 3 things one can do to deal with this big disease:
1. Go on with his affairs and try to ignore it.
2. Stay silent and choose only to watch so that he doesn't somehow contribute to the problem
3. Quit the forum.

With the recent bannings of Sub and Lee, can we get an exact list of which rules are still being enforced and how strongly they are?

And also, this is exactly what I was talking about in my main post. Yes, nudity is against the rules, but is it really ban worthy? Bans have been the new warnings for quite a while now. I remember a year or so ago Cuc explained that the warning/ban system is now different compared to the way it was before and he would explain how it is, but I don't believe it was ever done. So, can we get an official statement from an Admin about this?

"Pornography" is a instant ban offence

There is an infraction point system in place where we pick/create a infraction from a list which has a certain number of points attached (In the case of creating a special warning we choose the points) and once a number of points is reached the forum automatically bans the user

We also have the ability to give gentle warnings which strips the infraction of points but still adds it to your record (All users have an infraction tab on their profiles)

List of infractions

Inappropriate content1

You guys are overreacting.

The only thing currently annoying me on the forums are the amount of posts users seem to report because they don't like the poster, and usually those posts do not represent anything against the rules.
