Toughie, but I think I'd have to go with the classic single, blue.

The DOUBLE-BLADED LIGHTSABER would be my weapon of choice. It's a great weapon, too, because with it, you can choose to either fight with a single blade, or both. For example, when he attacked Qui-Gon on Tatooine, Darth Maul only used one side of the blade. Whereas, on Naboo in the Noobian smelter, he used both blades.

Single blue Lightsaber. However a Single Bright Orange lightsaber would be a close second.

Single Light saber. Green. Duals were for Jedis in Training. Single was for the Jedi Masters.

That's not true at all. The type of Lightsaber was a preferrence. Jedi crafted their own lightsabers, suited to their own purpouses. Corran Horn chose a dual-phase (and he put out a Yuuzhang Vong's brain using the dual phase too!). Darth Maul (though Sith and not Jedi), preferred the Double-Bladed Lightsaber. The deadly efficiency of the lightsaber was demonstrated, when he hit Qui-Gon on the chin with the over-sized hilt, and used a back motion to pierce his heart. He wouldn't have had the hilt-size, nor the blade facing the right direction to accomplish that with a single. Anakin Skywalker used a pair of lightsabers against Dooku, because he surmised he would be efficient. However, he obviously didn't have much practice with two blades at once, and lost his arm.

How the Jedi crafts their lightsaber(s) is a preferrence, and how many they use is also preferrential. It would have been very interesting, though, to see a Jedi use telekinesis to wield 10 at a time :p

the first person to use a dual blade was a sith, exar-kun, who was majorly bad assed...his saber hilt was also only a little longer than a standard hilt, no where near the size mauls was. besides, maul was the most suck assed sith ive ever seen... also, qui gon wasnt stabbed through the heart. you can clearly see that he wasnt. and the book also said he was taken through the gut.

but its true, a real master only needs 1 blade.

An apprentice also only *NEEDS* 1 blade. It's a matter of preferrence. If I was a force-user, my preferrence would be the double-bladed lightsaber.

I could have the ability to move planets out of their orbits, or to crush stars with my force-powers, for all it mattered. My preferrence wouldn't change from the double-bladed lightsaber...

The dual.
I could use just one of them if I needed, and I know that I possess certain skill with dual weapons.

I chose the Lightstaff because you can also use it as a single lightsaber, and it gives you the possibility to fight against 2 people at once :p

single all the way, its got more style and class. in my opinion, the staff just looks clunky(i know its not because, hey its not solid), theres only one position you can put it that looks cool. i also think using two looks stupid unless one is short(again i know it doens't really matter because thye don't actually have a weight, but it still looks cooler).

I don't know where you people get the name "Lightstaff." I really don't. Starwars.com, Star Wars RPG, KOTOR, KOTOR2, etc. They all use the same name for it, the true name, Double-Bladed Lightsaber.

A "lightstaff" is impossible, because, Staves are blunt-end weapons. A lightsaber cuts, because it projects a high-concentration blade-like laser (of restricted size -- somehow).

A Staff would denote a weapon that can be handled anywhere upon the entirety of the weapon, that can be used in a combat method. I use the staff sometimes, and they're not really used the same way Darth Maul used his Double-Bladed Lightsaber anyway. (Although, they can be used to block arrows and the such... Speaking of which, you should be really careful about doing such a thing...)

In other words, you want a quadruple phase.. One that extends, thickens, and then does both at once...

Customizing your blade is one thing, adding in extra crystals that don't belong is another... :p
