Krillen was cool in Dragonball, but in DBZ he is useless. When it comes to powerful genocidal tempted creatures he is the last one to run to a fight.

Yeah. Basically, he waits for almost all of his friends to die, then when one of the last few are about to be blasted he just goes "Crap, I don't wanna look like a coward, BANZAIIIII" and almost always it takes ONE HIT to send krillin flying away. At which point he's concious but "doesn't have the strength to keep going."

I think Krillin is great! He's a fun character to have in the series, I'm not sure, but I think Akira Toriyama actually stated somewhere that Krillin is the strongest human on Earth, he's just a chicken.
