kicking/banning problem...

hi, i have had little trouble with esf users so far, but some guy came into my server, and was beating on a bunch of noobs trying to learn to play, and when i tried to kick him, i ran into a snag: he put the " ` " symbol in his name, so when i tried to type that on the end of his name, all it did was close my console.

how do i overcome this in case i run into it again?

banid "minutes" (0 = permanent) "steamid" kick
ex: banid "5" "STEAM_0:0:123456" kick
ex2: banid "0" "STEAM_0:0:123456" (perm ban)
or just do this:
kick "his name"
ex: Kick "Fire Phoenix"

remember in steam you can copy and paste peoples names so if they have ~ or ` in their name copy and past it

the "banid" one didn't work... maybe i did it wrong.

"banid 0 name" submit...

i typed that, and it did nothing. then i tried it with quotation marks...

only kick worked, but he just came back in.

no you don't use thier name when you do banid

it's banID not banname

you bane their steamid or their ip address, and seeing as you can't get their ip address through steam you have to use their STEAM ID

nexttime read what i said if you wanna use thier name, kick them if you wanna use their steam id , ban them

Try typing in your console: messagemode kick [Enter]
it will bring up a chat like menu and type in his name exactly how it is for example if my name was `Demize` type: Messagemode kick [Enter] Then type: `Demize` [Enter]

No but it does kick them. =)

im too lazy to type into console... so i either use amxmodmenu or i do alt+tab to HLSW and kick/ban/etc. via RCON XD
you can administrate your server with HLSW even when your not playing... i like that ^^

or you can tybe users inconsole and get there number so lets say you want to ban the fouth player who joined to kick you would go

kick #4

and to ban you'd go

banid 0 #4 kick

thats what I do but if you use it to ban it only ban's them while your server is up and if you restart your server they can come back so just try and install amx if you want to really be able to ban and kick with style
