it wont install

i get the installer to open but the button on th choose a folder that says install is grayed out and i can't click it.

do i have to have hl? i have counter strike and it says it should work.

plz help me!

Install Steam.
Install Counter-Strike into Steam.
Run Counter-Strike once.
Install ESF 1.2.3.
Enjoy.

Bear in mind that if you got CS through CZ, you won't be able to install ESF.

I Dled the steam_Cs setup but i cant dl cs from steam

You can buy CS as a seperate game.

If you downloaded the Steam installer it doesn't much matter unless you've actually bought the game as well. You need a CD-Key to get Steam to let you play its games.

ok i got esf to install but when i open the esf icon it just starts cs, any ideas?

the only i can think of is you getting HL.

You can download it free throo STEAM just find it and click the download button
Than install ESF to HL. Although i heard that it works with CS i dont know how the steps for that are.

Do you have Steam installed?
What game did you install ESF into, did you get your copy of CS because you bought Condition-Zero?
Are you using the latest 1.2.3 version?

If you answer these questions it will be much easier to help you.

i do have cs cz but also have cs, i do have steam, and esf is in the steam app folder. where do i get the free version of hl on steam? if you think that is the prob.

If you got your CS 1.6 through CS:CZ, you cannot install ESF.

I don't think you can download Half-Life for free if you've bought CS or CZ. If you have a package that includes Half-Life, then you can download it.

Now, if what you said about having a seperate copy of CS before CZ is true, than you should be able to install ESF into CS without any problems.

Run Half-Life once before you try to install ESF 1.2.3.

last try open the play games menu of STEAM and launch ESF from there


if that works than deleete the shortcut for ESF you have and make a new one by rightclicking on ESF in the play games menu and selecting create a desktop shortcut

undo everyything u have and start again with this.

1.install halflife
2.download esf.1.2.3
3.install esf.1.2.3 into this directory C;\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\<username>\half-life (replace 'username' with your own)
4.check the steam ''games'' list and see if ''earths special forces'' is in the list
