Well you have to make sure that you connect to gamesnet. And there is the possibility that you were netsplit. But I would make sure of the first thing first.

make sure your on server irc.gamesnet.net port: 6667

i think you can type

"/server irc.gamesnet.net:6667" in the main window and it will connect you to it.
