Installing onto CS

Okay, I have the retail version of Counter Strike, I get steam through the 1.6 patch for Counter Strike, and I've yet to been able to get ESF for work right, so I'm assuming there's something a little extra to do.

In short: I need a step-by-step guide on how to install ESF onto CS, and what patch to use beforehand, if any.

Scratch that, even though the stickys didn't help (I needed exact locations, and I don't use Half-Life), I've got it working.
