hi i need help on which folder to install the 1.2 at

just install 1.2 into the half life directory, if you mean the 1.2.1 patch, again, install the patch into teh halflife directory, hope i have helped

no, value got shut down so everything got moved to steam, you will need to download steam in order to play any halflife mods.

then you have the joyment of waiting for the updates for steam to download...have fun
